I did one this afternoon through RACQ with a NAB Amex. No problem with the transaction and the Egift has landed in my inbox

I just tried my CBA issued amex - same problem. payment cannot be processed. Then I tried my ANZ frequent flyer black Visa card - It didn't work either.

Something is wrong with woolworths e-gift cards payment system.

Not for me. I've purchased several today with AMEX issued cards.

I am getting the same problem as Dr Ralph has. basically, now it errored out when I try to do buy e-Gift Cards. I wonder if its because my account has been charged 2 x its actual limit credit limit. Amex rep on chat said my card is good to go, but my balance is now 600 in credit. Amex said it could be a merchant issue. It possibly is, as I can see the charge appear on Amex, but no email notification for the gift cards. There maybe a system problem.

So I wonder, has woolworths e-gift card division gone wonky with their amex or has they suddenly have problem accepting amex edge cards?

Or is it because my balance is in credit so i can't get gift cards.. which means I should just spend it up before going back to buy gift cards..

I have had this problem before where the card wouldn't work after spending ~2x my purchase limit. I never busted my credit limit as I made period BPAY payments.

Basically the AMEX rep said that it was because I had charged purchases over my credit limit, and AMEX considers that blowing your credit limit and it sets off some risk limits or something (even if you prefund, pay the card into credit etc). The solution was to wait for the account to roll over the next month unfortunately.

With this error though, i found that you can use the card for smallish purchases of woolies e gift cards (<$100)

I think it depends on your spending behaviour too.
I am constantly in excess of my credit limit. And I buy 5k worth of cards at a time. I bought some today and they came in an hour like always.

Glad they came through

So what do you do with $5000 worth of gift cards if you don't mind me asking... or do you just have a big family to feed?? :)

Yes, im getting that still trying to buy a new card.

Has anyone emailed to ask when it will be back online?
Given how long they take to respond to emails it's likely the site will be back up by then. This is a good reminder to make sure you always keep these in stock. Buying at the last moment is not a good strategy.
