Woolworths gift card thread

I missed out last year, but I thought there was a promotion of no fee?
I was just googling today a bad you are right.

They had a fee free promo

They also had a 2000 woolworths points promo as well.

Wonder why they had two promotions in a short period of time5

There are plenty of methods mentioned in this thread. The basics, repeating earlier posts are to buy the Only1’s with discounted wish cards bought via CashRewards or EntertainmentBook using Amex Platinum Edge for 3ppd etc....for most the cost of the $100 Only1 comes out at $100.65, eg a 65c premium.

In your case your paying a premium of nearly $4 for every $100 spent. Unless your getting an unexplained benefit, your better off paying the ATO bill direct with your Amex and copping the $1.45 Amex fee per $100, but likely still getting half a point per $? Even cheaper if you use Visa/MC etc. In essence unless your getting the Only1s cheap AND getting 3ppd it’s not worth buying them.... IMO.

Hi Coops, me again. After your comments above, I have been trying to rememebr where I picked up the advice to use the method I did to pay my tax bill. Have found posts #793 and #794 which I followed. Not sure if I missed something in the translation, but thought I was doing things the best way. My card is an QF Amex Ultimate for which I receive 1.5 points for most transactions. Any further thoughts? Franky.

I have noticed my local post office has started to stock the $88 cny eftpos cards

Maybe woollies will stock it soon and have a super promo again too

Today I noticed stock of these cards in Coles. Hopefully a promo at Coles for New Year in Feb.

Finally after multiple phone calls and emails woolworths money has sorted my problem of not able to buy gift cards. Almost around 1.9 x of credit limit again and probably amex has blocked me from buying gift cards again, or maybe there's a daily limit on how much gift cards they can buy per 24 hours. Is there such limit? First purchase 9k ( my monthly limit) was fine, now hit the error to process payment at 8k...

There is no limit per se.
But I mentioned upthread that Amex does block your account once it exceeds a certain multiple above your monthly credit limit (even if you put the account into credit). Small purchases like $100 still go through though (would be good if you could test for a data point).

For me though - the error came on the woolies payment page - card not able to go through despite keying in the correct details.

Btw I bought some $50 eftpos cards at Best n Less Lakeside Joondalup WA (3 separate days) for a flat $50 (ie without the fee).

I am not sure if this is available at all Best & Less (or whether it is still available) or whether was an error on scanning at checkout.

$50 (and even $88) is tiring so didnt buy too many.

Are you paying your account off or sitting significantly over your limit? OT but just wanting to chip in suggesting that might not be great for your credit score as CCR becomes a thing

I noted the $88 EFTPOS cards have the old $5.95 fee attached. I am looking at getting some of those add the $6.95 per $100 is pushing the friendship.

Hopefully there is an offer coming for the $88 cards

Oh, What I did was was the balance shows up as 9K, I bpay the whole amount, then want it get balance before going back buying more gift card again.

Strangely enough the error in processing payment only occur when about $1k left of my limit a few days. I waited for 24 hours and again was able to purchase the gift cards again with no issues, now sitting at $7 over my 9k limit. I aim to bpay the whole amount and rinse and repeat..

Another interesting development. Is it common for woolworth staff to ask you for your ABN, name, address, business address when buying 10 x gift cards valued > 1k at once?
I encountered this in one store, but not the others.

It has happened to me at Big W, but not Woolworths.

Ive has my DL photocopied at one particular Coles. Never a prob at WW even when buying successive batches of 4

Anybody getting the "verification by phone number now' when you go to the woolies site to buy e cards?

I am not sure if it is per transaction or just one off...

This website / system "upgrade" is highly annoying for repeat customers.

What type of EFTPOS cards were these?

Did you guys both manage to click through to buy?
The page seems stuck for me even when I click the button "TEXT" and I cannot seem to be able to verify my telephone number?
All good for me. But that was much earlier today.
