Unexpected benefit. I used one of my cards to prepay my electric bill. It looked pretty high so I went onto the energymadeeasy site and using the competitors' quotes, was able to negotiate an 18% discount

Poster on OzB has stated they got 2 x Birthday and 2 x standard Variable load and received 10K QFF........
For some time now, Woolworths have been applying the purchase limits to each individual card in an offer rather than as an overall limit. The regular Vanilla Visa and the Vanilla Visa Birthday cards are two different products despite being functionally identical so that's why you can buy two of each variable load cards per day with the one account.

Oh damn wish I knew that yesterday, no stock left for my other purchase attempts today... :(

No chance they could claw back the points later ?

None of variable Visa cards at my local WW in Mel west . Called neighboring store to be informed that there were none of same as a lot were tampered with and were pulled off shelves . This happened at multiple stores .

My local WOW in Kambah ACT is always a lottery both in terms of availability and purchasing.

Yesterday I tried to buy two of the Visa Vanilla cards and was told that if "anything goes wrong" there's no refunds. But the transaction for $1015.90 needed authorisation from the store manager. She was busy though with the customer next to me who was trying to buy 12 cards across 6 accounts, for the second time this week apparently. I've never heard so much misinformation - "you can't buy more than two", "this is a business transaction", "you can't use your business rewards", "we can't load up $500", "we need Head Office to authorise this many/much". The poor dude did well no to lose it. I eventually managed to make my purchase, although the little screen I could see was not working but was assured the points had shown up on the operator's screen. Relief when the points landed whilst the cards were activating.

And this morning - same staff and introducing myself as the guy from yesterday purchasing more of the same seemed to ring no bells. But this time, purchasing the Visa Vanilla Birthday version, I had to provide my phone number. Still had to have the manager's authorisation.

If you go over $1000 in a single txn at WW, it prompts the cashier for business details (incl a name and phone number). What you are seeing is pretty much the outcome of that from the staff's perspective.

I just do multiple shops under $1K to do them a favour.

I bought over $1000 in one go yesterday, X2 occasions as I have 2 WW accounts. The register asked if I was buying for business purpose, and the staff just press NO. That was it.
I think Happy Dude met grumpy staffs.

Was this self check out? I am specifically referring to the prompt that operators get at the manned checkouts.

Was this self check out?

Yes; but isn't the workflow the same? Like a human check out would prompt the staff to seek manager's authorization; but so does a self check out.

Can you remember what were the exact words? The staff was standing with me (because the self check out register would just keep seeking staff approval as we know), and we were just pressing the screen together really.

Yes, manned registers are prompted for details which must be entered. A few of us have had check out staff just put fake details in to move past it. You can search this exact thread for instances of this and discussions about buying variable gift cards just below $500 each to avoid it. Just search for 499.99, I'm sure you will find it.

It is so suspicions that Happy Dude must be scamming a random stranger by contributing to the stranger's Everyday account at 0.5c per dollar 😆
To be fair, it a just not a normal / expected behavior. I can imagine staff seeing it at something suspicious. It s not their job to try and imagine how this could be turned into a scam, or not. They don't know what they don't know. Let s be kind with cashoer, lets stay within the t&cs, and let s not try to use multiple account at the same time against the same cashier.

That's the whole point, you can't turn this into a criminal scam.

Let s be kind with cashoer

I have never abused service staff. Having done retail for 8+ years, plus service industry on top, plus inbound call centre at a phone company on top again, it is not something I would do (unlike some other members on this forum which I am aware of).

lets stay within the t&cs, and let s not try to use multiple account at the same time against the same cashier.

T&C states per account, not per person or customer. They would have said 2 cards per customer if they have actually wanted to limit gift cards like limiting eggs or toilet rolls.

I bought the exact same amount at the same store with the same operator the day before without having to give my phone number. In fact, I've bought more than $1000 on many previous occasions at that store and others without ever having to give any personal details at all, other than swipe my EDR card where all that and more lives.

No-one was doing anything outside the T&Cs, which the staff at this store seeming don't know. They really didn't want to process so many gift cards for one person, which I agree does look quite suss so is not something I'd be inclined to do. I wished him luck and left him arguing with the staff.

If a scammer asked their victim to buy $6k of gift cards from Woolies and the staff didn't question it then the staff would get in trouble. They are just doing their job.
