Its fairly simple, you can get your credit report for free, but why do you think a company who devises and pays to create a credit scoring system should give you access to that scoring system for free?

Well have to partially agree with that statement but Vedascore gives you access to the score itself rather than the scoring "system", not surprising really. If you had the details of the methodology used to create the score from the raw credit reporting data why would you tne need to subscribe to and pay for their scoring service.

one question I have, I only have the standard Veda product.... How is a "score" presented...? Is there a classification to what level a good score becomes bad...? or is this subjective by the company accessing your credit file, in which case the score is not "accurate" across all inquiries...?

The example graphic does not show that much detail...

Risk grade 41% to 60% = Good

That's some range...

Can I speculate...

Below 20% = Terrible
21% to 40% = Bad
41% to 60% = Good
61% to 80% = Very Good
81% to 100% = Excellent

Edit, looks like I'm pretty close in my speculation

You have the right to find out what's in your credit report and correct any wrong information...

You can receive a free copy if you're willing to wait 10 days. You may have to pay if you need the report faster. You can get a copy of your credit report from these credit reporting agencies:
Thanks, but you missed the point. I am well aware of free access to my credit file but that is distinct from my credit score which was the question I asked

this comes in the exact day when I have just purchased 10 x $250 Discounted wish cards

Was this a targetted email? I didn't receive it :(
Oh well. I have heaps of 5% off Gift Cards anyway.

Thanks, I didn't think so.

I disagree that $85 is peanuts. It is an assessment of my personal circumstance that is used to adjudicate eligibility to receive credit. Why shouldn't it be available to me for free?

I happen to agree with you.

All Australian residents are entitled to their Credit file free of Charge under consumer law once every 12 months . ( someone correct me if it's a different time frame to what I stated).

Veda are a large credit file referencing agency based in North Sydney that HSBC uses , along with many other financial institutions.

It's worth noting that HSBC manage the Woolies EDR Mastercard .

Veda & the Banks are prone to making mistakes at times with incorrect information being added onto the wrong persons credit file.

This happened to me with surprise, surprise - HSBC when applying for a standard HSBC Credit card.

The credit file issued by Veda free of charge enabled me to identify errors on my own credit file, which were corrected by Veda apparently.

After this "Clean up of my credit file " HSBC still rejected me...... But the CBA, ANZ & Amex haven't ...... So it's HSBC's loss in the end!

You win some & lose some.... If HSBC don't accept you I recommend moving on...... Plenty of other good sign up deals ( ie bonus 20k, 30k or even 40k QFF points offered depending on the deal )with other financial institutions at the moment.

Macquarie Bank takes over the WW credit card from HSBC on 26 Oct.
Annual fee increases to $99 for first year, then $139.
What is the cheapest 1:1 Visa/MC now?

Oh no does that mean no more ATO points with Ww?

Glad I binned this card.

Not cheaper, but arguably better, is the Bankwest Qantas Platinum. It is $140 per year but the Platinum flavour has fee free foreign transactions which is a real bonus.

The BW card is not 1:1 anymore.

Citibank Signature Fee Free for Life is the cheapest 1:1, but no points on ATO spend. $139 for the WOW card would still be the cheapest after that followed by the Suncorp (rebadged Citi card) and Jetstar (another rebadged macquarie) cards that are ~$150.

I didn't think Jetstar earned ATO points?

I can't help with a definitive answer on that one I'm afraid, as I don't have one. Your comment on the other thread is the first I've heard of Macquarie cards not paying on ato though.
