On a slightly more positive note, this weeks catalogue has a $10 on any spend over $100 so make sure you pick up a copy before you start your shop.

An online order on Sunday of $268.35 earned exactly 0.00 Woolworthless Dollars.:p

The fortnightly basket doesn't change much unless I'm baking/cooking special occasion dishes. That said, I am stocking up a little on non-perishables so I can earn a few more QFF points before that tap is turned off.

I can't see our household earning the mythical $10 credit anytime soon.

Yeah. Should have known that todays news.com.au still shows yesterdays news.

The article has been updated from the version I read yesterday. They have put a response in from Woolworths plus another couple of examples of unusual prices from Woolworths.

Another underwhelming response from Woolworths in that article:

We have not raised the price of any product to cover the cost of Woolworths Dollars offered.

How many examples have we seen of this? This is simply untrue.

“In fact, Woolworths Rewards is a multi-million dollar increase in rewards, which Monash Business School research confirms is twice as generous as our major competitor’s core program.”
That study, commissioned by Woolworths, found the average grocery shopper spending $108 per week would earn a $10 reward roughly every 7.4 weeks, or less than half the time it would take to earn the equivalent reward on FlyBuys.

Why should anyone rely on a study commissioned by Woolworths? I think what we're seeing in reality is that shoppers are spending hundreds of dollars and seeing barely any rewards in return.

Woolworths commissioning its own research is like a tobacco company commissioning a study that concludes that there is no link between smoking and cancer.

Anyone noticed that the "Reward" tagged items with say 50c Rewards were 50c cheaper a few weeks ago before the changes to the Worthless Rewards Program?

To be fair I believe Woolworths is correct here. The new scheme is significantly more generous than Arkwright's Corner Shop scheme.*

*It is clear to me that Woolworths can't possibly see Coles as its major competitor any more. :p

And they are open all hours.

Glad you mentioned that. WW seem to be saving money by no longer emailing me thir catalogue notification and specials selected "just for me".

From the woolworthless rewards FB page ... it is oddly fascinating how badly they're handling the social media backlash. They should just keep quiet for a while, almost every post they make is bringing on more howls of outrage. But then shouldn't really expect any better from the people who brought us 'Fresh in our Memories' for Anzac Day

Not doing particularly well on productreview.com.au...

...and why they want you to keep your details private ...

John Stewart If only it all worked. Someone at Woolworths deleted my rewards account. When I rang them they said it couldn't be reinstated. The people I spoke to were Tanya and her supervisor Rajinda who told me they didn’t care if I didn’t shop at Woolworths. I asked her if she has put her comments on my file so her boss could see how she treats customers. She said she has but I bet she didn’t. They told me I couldn’t get a second card for my partner as it’s against their policy. I have had a second Woolworth’s reward card for 5 years as we share the shopping duties. I have got a second card for Coles so Woolworths have lost 2 customers as we will now only shop at Coles. Well done Woolworths.

Woolworths Rewards Hi John, please be sure to share your details via private message - you can do this by clicking on the 'Message' button on our cover image at the top of the page. It's important you don't share your personal details on the public feed. Thanks.

John Stewart Why is it important?

John Stewart I have had hundreds of emails telling me about their bad experiences since I posted my email address. Nobody from woollies has bothered to contact me though.

John Stewart Gee, now I have had the media contact me. Glad I gave out my email and phone number. Looks like I have created quite a stir.

Today I discovered that Thursday is senior's day at IGA.10% discount makes them cheaper than Woollies.
That must depend on the IGA you visit? Some of the prices I have seen at IGA the 10% discount at IGA wouldn't even make a dent in the difference you would pay over shopping at Woolworths.

IGA does a lot of good specials though.

I don't see any seniors discounts at the local IGAs (they tend to be associated with cooperatives) but in Perth 5% on Tuesdays come to mind.

OTOH the local IGAs tend to support the local growers better than the big two. Especially if you are willing to buy the smaller or uglier specimens. And the deli sections are far better than the others.

Happy wandering

Fred

On the other hand they do stock some things that either coles or wollies don't stock.Up here often a bigger range of Maggie Beer's stuff which we like.

I received the same offer - haven't tried clicking through yet, but I note in the Ts & Cs that it says "members must activate the offer any time during the offer period in order to be eligible for this promotion". As the promotion doesn't start until tomorrow (16 November), does that mean we shouldn't try activating it until tomorrow??
