The surprise will come today for those members who haven't realised that 3000 has been taken from their accounts when they get an egiftcard by email.

Woolworths rewards crazy price structure at BWS made it to the online news. The other articles(which I'd read before) mentioned in the article were also very funny.

Woolworths rewards card fail: Spend $2 to get $2 back

That article makes it out as if it was a simple, one-off, humorous mistake. The reality is that this is actually applies to pretty much everything with an orange ticket. By mocking this, they're effectively mocking the entire Woolworthless Rewards program.

Yet another marketing blunder by Woolies.

"Woolworthless dollars" are beyond a joke.

Triple Flyby's points at Coles, thanks to a targeted email, another week where Woolies misses out on my spend.

I told them I wanted a small key-ring style card. How's this for an illiterate reply:
Thank you for contacting Woolworths Rewards in regards to your inquire, unfortunately we can no longer provide key tags as additional cards are unavailable at this time due to security purposes.

I notice (as pointed out up-thread) that my number and barcode are identical to the old card, so I shall continue to use the old key-ring version and, frankly, I don't care a damn whether or not I clock up Worthless Rewards on the few occasions I do shop there for something not readily found elsewhere. Coles is much further away but I prefer to use local independent shops anyway.

Yeh i never got a keyring version. That annoyed me. However i did login to my EDR account and find that it had some random address in it. Somewhere i have never lived so if they sent it or the new woolworthless card i probably will never get it.

Yes, same thing happened on my partner's account. I figured it wasn't the only one.

You can cut the barcode from the new card, add a hole and laminate.

Saw this on Facebook:

along with the comment, " $393 shop and 20 cents in rewards. No thanks Woolworths."

Complete fail with the new WWRupiah programme.

What I don't get is WW keeps harping on this whole "no change in shopping habits thing".

WW seems to imply that people don't have to change what they buy and they will be rewarded (on average, it seems, within 7-8 weeks). But a preliminary check of orange ticket items would reveal that many items are not those that people would buy everyday. It's not even a case of switching your brands to those with orange tickets on them, because either the economics don't work, the products are inferior or not suitable for personal preferences.

Seems funny enough that WW will also increase prices to give the markup back as WW$. Now I know that is not an isolated technique; for example, there are sites which sell things (even hotel rooms) where members (membership is usually free) receive a discount on an item that non-members do not, however the "discounted" cost is usually the headlined one and regarded commonly as the price of that item.

Now I haven't done a full shop at WW since the change so I'm yet to see if I would actually buy many orange ticket items, but according to the crowd here it seems mostly a fail. Has anyone here been sticking to WW and found that apart from no QF points, there is not much change to their bill?

The independent test that was done in the quoted article gives a "dead heat" result (almost) between WW and Coles in benefits. I wonder how they shopped. I don't know if the non-AFF commoner would prefer less bother with the rewards handling, but if the benefit was going to be equal for both, I'd rather take the option with more flexibility and choice, even if it means I need to manage the redeeming of the rewards (subject to Coles not being worse quality than WW, but word on the street is that is extremely unlikely).

This is to put it quite simply a con on us, the consumer.
Jack up prices, hide the total price per item in ads (when are the ACCC going to bust them?) and then offer half the "savings" back in Pesos.

There are now only 7 weeks left until my last shop at Woolies as some QFF points are better than none and anything, including Flybuys is better than Pesos.

BTW still waiting for my survey as to What I Would Prefer.
This lot are starting to make Aldi look attractive and they don't do anything to encourage loyalty at all. ðŸ

I'm back at work next week. Can't say I'm looking forward to it with these changes in place.
Some customers at my store have been spotted wearing QF PJs while they shop....

I keep getting emails from Woolies asking why they haven't seen me in so long and offering me various deals, when in reality I pop into the local one 3-4 times a week but spend < $30 so never bother to swipe my card.
Me too, opusman. I could only ever bear the fact they learn so much about my habits if I was getting something out of it myself. We are prone to small shops mostly daily, not enough to earn points this way but adding up to large amounts with woolies on a weekly basis. So this new system will make little difference to us. Just for once, hubby swiped as we spent $166.80 in one go (usually unheard of for us). He got $0.50 in Rewards dollars ...

I'm confused. Do I earn Woolworthless dollars on the "items for you" that they emailed me about (with no prices visible), or only on orange ticket items (assuming there actually are any in the store)? Because the email was certainly trying to give me impression that I would earn on the "items for you".

I got that impression as well but after a big shop this week including several of the items just for me, not one cent on reward dollars for a $120 shop.

I canned my WWR card the other day - on the website told them I no longer wanted to be a part of it, and surprise surprise it told me an error had occurred. I threw the cards out anyway - I shop at Coles now - better rewards for the same spend.

My wife and I have found new freedom with our grocery shopping - no longer stuck with Woollies - Coles is looking an attractive option - first impressions is that fruit there is fresher and cheaper - but time will tell.
Maybe because of our big drop in purchases or my past complaints , I had a call from EDR asking a few questions about whether I would be interested in the new reward programme but still receive QFF bonus points as incentives (eg 500 pts for > $260 spend).
That sounded reasonable to me although Qantas needs to clean up its act in terms of customer service .

News.com.au reader Stewart has pointed out a pretty uninspiring deal currently being promoted on the BWS website and emailed to customers last night.

You can either: buy a 24-case of 330mL Bitburger Premium Beer Bottles for $40, or buy the exact same product for $42 to earn $2 worth of Woolworths Rewards points.

“$2 extra if you want $2 back — seems fair,” Stewart says.
