My local Woolies has 20 pesos back on Woolworths 2l milk. So I may collect a few pesos this week!

I saw that somewhere but I don't know whether I'll take advantage of it before it ends. I got about a weeks worth of Milk today at Coles. If I'm shopping on Tuesday next week at Woolworths I'll probably get some.

So the other day did a $150 shop.. again not one thing I bought was a Woolies dollars item.. Then I got an email saying they'd doubled my Woolies dollars... So I'll be getting DOUBLE NOTHING... I laughed and I laughed..

As others have mentioned, there are some items with a decent amount of woolies dollars assigned to them, but they mysteriously seem to have increased in price at the same time. The $1.00 canned tomatoes earning 45c would be great value if they weren't now $1.45. Thanks woolies.

There was nothing on the shelf ticket today at Woolworths to say this promotion was still going, however I got 20 cents Woolworths dollars after buying 2 litres today so I'm guessing it still is. It was my first time I had earned anything special from the new rewards program. I'm still waiting for my first targeted offer from them.

Late on Friday afternoon I stopped in an out of the way WoW and saw the nectarines were $3/kg with $1 back in pesos.

So at $2/kg (eventually) the large nectarines got an even larger sampling by me.

Early next morning at a different WoW I walked in (while waiting for destination store to open) and saw the nectarines there were $3/kg but no $1/kg of pesos.

So I went to the service desk and asked why not as the WoW pesos are a state wide offering NOT up to stores to decide.

Told that each store does its own thing and sometimes we bag up the fruit and sell them for $5.

Great I replied, but that's not what I asked. WoW pesos are a state wide (aka head office controlled) initiative and why don't the labels show the $1/kg back.

"Oh, it was probably last week. When did you buy them?"

About 14 hours and 9km ago.

She continued to argue for another minute or two before I suggested calling the F&V manager. So she did. As he was walking towards us she strode out to see him and said just a little too loudly; "You need to print out the labels for the $1/kg back on the nectarines as this customer is going to want to get them for free."

What a mind reader she was! As customer service people go she was dismal. There was a frantic rush to get a label printed out and then scanned at the service desk to alter the pricing for nectarines.

So from Wednesday to Saturday they had been over-charging the unsuspecting customers.

Coles is looking better and better in some ways.

I was told instore when querying the pathetic peso amount that woolies couldn't afford the qantas tie up anymore.

Looking at what their share price has done recently, I can believe that.

I had held wow shares for years in our super fund. Sold them a few months ago when things started going poorly - thank goodness at the top of the fall and not now.

So I think that this new game has been going on for about 4 weeks.

I have spent about $400 and earned approx $3 WOW money.

So disappointing.

Former CEO, Roger Corbett is back being an " Advisor" to the Woolworths board, working One day a week and reportedly earning $700,000 p.a to give advice to the board & senior management.
Let's hope Roger Corbett gets the supermarket division back on track.
A review of the supermarket marketing Department would be a good start.

$14,000/day!! How can any one person's advice be worth that much?

I'm not at C level and never have been - thought I'd get that out of the way first :)

Having worked for a number of organizations over the years, some SMB and others global players, my view has come around to, sometimes they are worth it. The difficulty is in measuring the 'worth' of the top execs. Having worked for some shocking C level bosses on high salaries my view now is that the base salary probably should be relatively 'normal' - you know, the sort of money that your average hard working senior boss might make. The big money should come in as a result of measurable performance of the business. Its not easy to gauge, thats a certainty.

Some energetic experienced execs _are_ able to add serious money to the bottom line. It could translate into big serious money for the organization. Others, poorly performing or just downright bad, can drive a business to the wall.

I guess it's like any 'special' - you sometimes have to look or change products to take advantage.

I bought chickpeas the other day, 53 wollies cents back on each can. So I got back $3 on a $20 shop. The 53c represented a saving over and above the price of the chickpeas when they're usually on sale.

If you don't deviate from your preferred brand, or take advantage of the specials, the Wollies dollars are probably going to be few and far between.

But the shareholders don't know what other options they have...

If it works, he'll be a hero; if not, he still gets the dough.

And this is the issue i take. The big bucks are paid, on the basis that these guys bear the risk of the decisions they make. But realistically, what risk is there to them?

In my experience in the corporate sector, often, major risks are managed before options are landed on the desks of the decision makers.

Then the other side of the equation, accountability, if a bad call is made, they quietly disappear before landing another similar role thanks to their old boys network...what accountability?

I have noticed that there are a lot of errors in the pricing and labeling since the start of Worthless Rewards. Great Ocean Road Milk had had 40c in pesos per 2 litre bottle one week then I noticed the following week after the "savings" had ended I received an unplanned bonus from the low fat but not the full cream milk the next - I expect it was a case of someone manually entering the data and forgetting they sold low fat milk.
Surely a more straightforward rewards scheme of $x off your next shop once you spend $y in the previous shop would result in less errors and improved customer satisfaction. That is indeed the approach used by Coles - spend over $x and receive y fly buy points. This typically means $5 off when expending more than $80. This is far better than a few pesos here and there (if you're lucky) but only earned on products where (mostly) the pesos are costed into the "special" price

I wonder how many times WOW will see this written/said/posted before they take note.

The WWR scheme is total carp!

Agree .
I would like to see WOW offering a QFF earning alternative to their pesos !
