Our IGA in BNK is pretty good except for one thing - the fresh fruit and vegies are the second worst in BNK. The worst are at WW. For example a bagged dozen oranges that I bought the last time I shopped there )over 2 years ago) had three in it that were rotten. Fresh food people indeed!!
Agree about the fruit and veg however must admit the two stores near us with onsite butchers are quite good so no complaints about the meat however we have at the moment made the choice to shop elsewhere even though it is costing us more.

I only buy packaged goods at IGA so can't comment but, and I digress for a moment, my daughter recently bought all her fruit and veg at Aldi for the week and ended up throwing it all out as it went off within 24 hours. To me it suggests that they ALL use their big refrigerated storage for the fruit and veg and what we are getting in the stores is stuff that could be months old. Better going to the local greengrocer who you know goes to the markets each morning.

I agree. Problem in BNK is that greengrocers are few and far between. One has just opened up in a shopping mall near WW. The best one around is called Green Garage in Byron Bay (30 km away). Thus don't go there often

Green Garage is good, but I'm going have to disagree with you there and say Tropicana in Lismore is the best in the area. :D

And here was me thinking all you hippies grow your own. :)

I worked in Lismore for 17 years. Lismore sucks. Hot, dirty run down. I only go there when I have to. 70km round trip from BNK

Define local greengrocer?

The Fruity Capers type that is no different to Woolworths/Coles?

Or the local greengrocer that is selling fruit and vegetables that looked like they were clearance items at the market the weekend before?

I had a reversal on the identical dates, only for 8 points. I also had 39 points added dated 16 Jan which must have been a sweep up of minor shops in recent weeks - I havent darkened the doorstep of a WW store since raiding them for leftover christmas puddings on boxing day.

I'll be in Goonellabah this weekend... but that's massively off topic.

To get back on topic... I've stopped carrying my Woolworths Rewards card until they enable QF points. Every time they ask me if I have a card now I say not until Qantas points come back and I am regularly told by WW staff how they see shoppers spending $200-300 with nary a reward cent added to their card. If staff are seeing that, it's not a very good system!

Indeed. Our last shop was $145 and not one Rupiah was added to our balance.

What I can't figure is why do you all still bother with WW? I ditched them 12 months ago when the local Coles (across the road) had a makeover and put in place a staff training program that focussed on customer satisfaction. Anyway, under the old scheme, you had to spend $30 real bucks before you earned a QFF point.

Why? Because for us they are cheaper than Coles, by $20-30 a week. That adds up over a year! If Coles sends me a good offer, I'll shop there (or if they have specials on certain items). But on average, WW is far cheaper (at least in our suburb).

Goonellabah was always the best and worst of Lismore. Worst on the way to work and best as you passed the Media Centre on the way home. I've stopped carrying my EDR card because I've shredded it (the new one). I just rely on the QFF points from my CC and shop at Coles.

Ditto. Coles is far cheaper in my area anyway. I only duck into WW if I couldn't be bothered with Coles and only need a few items.

According to the receipt I got from WOW today, "earn woolworths dollars when you buy any of hundreds of specially-marked products </snip>."

I wonder if the ACCC would be interested in doing a stocktake.

The comms I see about W$ tickets keep saying 500 lines (assuming there was a store that stocked every single line). I never see more then around 3 dozen in the ticket bundles. True, I work in a smaller store which doesn't range everything, but 500 is a long way from ~30.

In the latest catalogue there is only one orange sticker item.

I dare someone to take this and prepare a case for the consumer affairs body in their state or the ACCC!

Hey, if people can pin Coles to the wall for "fresh" bread.......
