Woolworths reviewing partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Sounds totally understandable to me.

  • Market research will be commissioned by the 'geniuses' who came up with the wonderful new rewards scheme.
  • They know the new version MkII is still a dud.
  • They want to protect their future employment.
  • So they push poll (albeit cleverly) and only ask the questions in such a way so the answers do not hang them.

Absolutely logical to have a follow-up question to that asking why?

Equally absolutely career ending for the mgmt if they did so.

One new example for the future MBA courses - dysfunctional behaviour driving corporate decision making.

Don't worry it's already happening! I'm doing Post Grad in Marketing, the Uni I go to has used Woolies marketing failures more than a few times recently as an example of poor marketing execution in tuitorials & lecturers :)

This morning I got my first QFF points offer since rupiah dollars were introduced. Spend $110 next week and get either 10 woollies dollars or 870 QFF points. My spending pattern in recent times has been only smaller top up shopping at Woolworths and rarely presenting the Everyday Rewards card unless there was a reason such as a cash promotion. However, I have used the same credit card each visit so I guess they can monitor my spending via that.

Mine is $95 spend for 10 I&S or 870 points.

Mine is spend $50 for $10 Woolworths or 870 Qf pts. ..I chose the latter; )

I received two similar offers and so am tossing up on whether go for points or cash. Normally I am a points type of guy. But it is hard to get great value for a QFF point and so the immediate benefit of the $10 is tempting.

I will probably go the points, but what do others believe is best at this ratio?

Actually a good Q...hard to sneeze at $10 so you are actually "buying" the 870 Qf points for 1.17 c per point.. .as I'm short of Qf points atm and normally get at least 3c per point when redeeming, I chose the Qf points option :)

At the opportunity cost of 1.1 cents/point vs the potential to get many multiples of that in redemption value from a point, I go points any time.

YMMV is the key. I would normally not buy QF points at that price but have selected then to encourage WOW to give me more QF offers

Three offers here on our cards, 2 pretty good and one not so good

Spend $30 for 435 QFF
Spend &70 for 1305 QFF
Spend $110 for 870 QFF

Will see but most likely based on our normal spend will use all 3 offers

As I mentioned in another thread - scanning the EDR card can be very valuable for the 'instant wins'. I won $20 this week. The second purchase was a discount bin item for $3.

I got

CHOOSE YOUR REWARD
$ 15 WOOLWORTHS DOLLARS+ OR 1,305 QANTAS POINTS^ WHEN YOU SPEND $70*

I got the same $10 or 870pts.

Its the first one i got too.

Except mine is only a $40 spend.

All my other offers have been over $50.

No offers but slowly working my way through multiple $WOW1 for more than AU$10 on fresh produce each visit.

This time I will remember not to spend the $WOW in store before I have a chance to logon to my account and get a QFF "donation".

Happy wandering

Fred
