Hi PF Please Excuse my ignorance but if I spent 2K in Coles how many Frequent Flyer Points would I earn? Not trying to be smart I Genuinely have no Idea :D

At 1FB/$ spent in shop at Coles, 2k FB points is worth $10.

This doesn't take into account bonus promotions or reduced earn rates at places like Coles Express.

What does this relate in terms of Frequent Flyer points?

I'm sure you can compare the relative values.

You are also able to redeem 10k FB points into 4K EY miles.

The other facet is the $1 = 1 EY tier mile (Max 2.5k) that can be earned at Coles and a number of other outlets that you won't earn at WW.

Well if you need to buy fuel and Caltex Woolies w/ discount is the cheapest - why not?

Having said that, locally they are only "sometimes" the cheapest.

I use my Myer One card at Caltex (not cobranded Woolies ones) and get $20 voucher for every $2000. It works with my fuel card too, so a better deal for me than PF's 870 points. :)

Thank you for that I genuinely had no idea, as have not looked at Fly-buys and conversion to FF points. So it seems that Fly-buys is a better redemption rate.

If it's fuel offer so:

Coles Express at Shell: 1 Flybuy/2$ translates to 400 EY miles for $2K spend (+4c discount)
BP: 2 VFF/litre translates to 3500-4000 VFF for $2k spend (no discount)
Caltex: 870 QF points + 2000 Myer points (in a StarMart store assuming they still stack) for $2k spend (+4c discount + ability to pay with 5% off WISH card)

If you use a Platinum Edge and buy giftcards you will also earn 3MR/$ at Caltex and Shell but 2MR/$ at BP

If price is equal, Caltex usually comes out on top-you need to get a plastic WISH giftcard for the StarMart branded ones

Why not ?
When the original scheme was going I earned 40-50K QFF points per annum. I always shopped at Woolies and used all the bonus offers.
With this it will be about 8-9K, totally not worth my time.
I can get 8K points from buying a dozen bottles of Shiraz

Woolworths brings back Qantas points in revamped rewards scheme - Australian Business Traveller

It's not just petrol which is affected by the changes. Woolworths Supermarkets and BWS are also changing the loyalty deal. It's one "Woolworths point" per $1 spent with no minimum qualifying target. When you get to 2000 points you get to choose either $10 off your next shop or 870 QFF points.

The petrol points for WW/Caltex are actually better than the flybuys Shell petrol conversion in percentage terms but it depends on FF points usages as to which conversion rate is better if you convert your supermarket points to frequent flyer points.
1 Woolworths point per dollar for WW/Caltex
1 flybuys point per $2 for Coles Express

As rainbowgirl mentioned, the no minimum threshold does take some of the sting out of the lousy conversion rate.

We live very near Coles and WW, so frequent smaller shops suit me better than one or two mahoosive shops a week.

So while not a fabulous deal, it is most likely "good enough" - essentially WW has cloned flybuys but with the option to convert to QF points. Let's hope Coles sees the light/market competition and introduces a similar conversion to VA.

You can use your Myer One as well as your WWR card at co-branded stations where the shop is a StarMart. Obviously, if it is a Woolies shop then no Myer One.

The ability to earn QF points directly may pull me back to WW. Although the 0.435 QF/$ earn is not exciting it compares reasonably with 0.4 EY/$ in Coles

Most of my earn is/was with bonus offers. These are likely to be more influential now

The local IGA is part of a co-operative. Spend $2500 and get a $20 voucher. A minor plus for rural living.

Pity that on many staple items they can't compete on price with Coles/Woolies.

I shall quote myself from another thread.

WW loyalty are pretty stupid. Instead of KISS, they made it unnecessarily complicated. They could have made a cashback of 1-2% on all purchases plus bonuses redeemable in $10 increments with the option of converting into QFF points.

Ingrid Maes stuffed up Flybuys when she was at Coles, launched a useless reward card at Dan Murphys and now has stuffed up EDR/WW rewards.

Seems somebody has been reading my posts... Perhaps they should make me the new head of loyalty at WW?

I think this a positive move. They had to do something anyway. The good 1. Points start with first spend 2. Still get 4c off when reach $30. People have choice of qantas points or cash discount. This appears very much a match a flybuys copy as others have said. The poor earn rate may reduce qantas points as people opt for cash discount. Hopefully some good intro offers when launched. On ausbt comment was that if do smaller shops you might be ahead vs big weekly shop would be worse off. But with everything there are some happy customers and some unhappy ones. In time all will be revealed.

I wasn't expecting a turn around like this. Someone in head office must have paid attention to some of the comments on the staff survey last month.

Haven't seen any docs about this at work yet. though there was a comm saying that some WOW rewards staff info cards would be arriving and to lock them in the office until told otherwise.

Just found some info about this in the system, reading it now.

Looks like there will be no more orange tickets. (Old system had orange tickets for members only extra speicals. Current system has earn only from orange tickets)

I'm concerned about this "bank your savings for christmas" part. Why not just bank your savings, until you want to use them. Selecting this option will lock any earnings until Dec 15

It will default to auto $10 off. If you want another option (Bank/convert to QFF), you need to go in to the website and change settings.

Covers co branded Caltex/WoW stations. Does not include StarMart. Other exclusions apply. Same things as always (gift cards, smoking products, recharges, tickets, etc)

Current WoW$ balances will convert in line with the 2000 WoW points = $10 ratio.

Does not appear to cover other Woolworths limited brands, only Supermarkets, online and BWS.

Paperwork says selecting QFF points will build up WoW points and convert at the 2000:870 ratio on Dec 15. Not sure if that is right, or if they are really going to make people wait for the QF points. But they give that date at least 4 times in this doc. That could be a point of contention given that old system converted to QF either weekly or after each shop.

Double points from most areas in fresh departments for 4 weeks after relaunch. Extra points via targeted email offers.

Point earn rounds up. eg. spend $3.20, get 4 points.

It's an improvement, but there are a few problems in it still.

In the old Everyday Rewards system, people who did not link to QFF earnt points which were automatically converted into Woolworths giftcards and mailed to them.
I wonder if the amount of points in that system relates to this new 2000 points per $10 system.

Temp cards are only valid for 6 months. If someone with a temp card does not register, they will lose anything they have earnt on the card after 6 months.

QFF point earn to half compared to old system.

"Unfortunately, under the new scheme it'll cost almost twice as much to earn the same number of Qantas Points compared to the long-running program which Woolworths axed in December 2015," he said.
"You'll need to spend around $2000 to earn 870 Qantas Points, and you'll need 16,000 points for a return economy ticket between Sydney and Melbourne. So if you want to spend almost $40,000 on groceries to get a free flight, go right ahead."
