Woolworths Rewards General Offers

Forgot all about this when shopping today. Bought wine and paid for it at the BWS counter and then grocery shopping at the supermarket counter. Together they would have been over $30, but not as separate transactions. Was using gift vouchers for part of the purchase, and they very likely are not counted in the transaction value anyway.

Is that a general offer (as that is what this thread is about)?

Well, I think it is as it came in the post and I've stopped their emails. I don't even recall my log-in details but was able to activate this offer (which continues for 6 weeks) with just the code printed on the booklet.

Just a reminder that the double points promotion for selected fresh categories ends on Tuesday September 27.

I've gotten lots of points from this promotion so I've had plenty of fun. We've been on holidays the past week and the town we went to only had a Woolworths and no Coles. We bought lots of fresh fruit and veg, deli goods and meat for the BBQ.

Coles have been having triple points promotions on selected weekends for some of their fresh produce as a response to the WW general offer, so I picked up a few extra points there but none this weekend.

Look out for next weeks Woolworths catalogue starting on Wednesday 28 September.

There is a coupon in it which gives you $10 off your next purchase if you spend $100 and swipe your Woolworths reward.

I'll have more information on this general offer tomorrow night once the catalogue is online. There might be terms and conditions on the offer as to how many times you can take it up per membership.

It works out as roughly 10% discount depending on whether you calculate it on a $100 spend or a $110 spend.

I noticed today that Woolies are offeing 2000 pesos ( or 870 QFF points for those who convert back to QF) on $100 Best restaurants of Australia Gift Cards.

Not too bad of a deal, particularly if you pay with the right AMEX card that attracts a good earn rate at Supermarkets.

Page 3 of the WW catalogue states single use only. Usual exclusions on the qualifying spend (no gift cards etc).

If you usually spend over $200 and have two Woolworths rewards members in the family, split your shopping across two transactions. You can usually pick up an extra copy of the catalogue instore.

Woolworths rewards now allow you to have additional cards for the one membership. They cut this feature out initially when they changed the name of the loyalty program. The additional cards feature is useful when taking up offers like the general offer $10 coupon above. It saves having to swap cards between family members.

Was easily fixed as you just scanned, photocopied or photographed your barcode if you did not already have multiple cards.

Or used a smartphone app such as Stocard.

In the past I've been denied using stocard at check out by various operators as they say you can load multiple cards into the app, which you can and I do. They claim when you shop you need only one card, your own. Other times I've had no problems with the app. YMMV.

Obviously the way around this is to use self service check outs (not practical with big shops though).

They should not be preventing you from using such an app, just as they should not be preventing anyone from using an old EDR card. Old cards are still valid and the system only allows one card to be used per transaction.

I've found some double points offers in the Woolworths catalogue which starts Wednesday 28 September. The previous double points products end today. The new double points products may take up to 10 days to appear in your account according to a tiny note down the bottom of Page 3 of the catalogue. The previous double points products were showing up almost instantly in the accounts. The new double points promotion ends on November 1.

The current double points promotions apply to anything in the Bread, Bakery, Cheese and Chilled Yogurt categories. There are examples in the catalogue but the double points will apply to more products than what is listed in the catalogue. I don't know the status of cheese which is sold via the deli or the shelves traditionally next to the deli section. It might be hit and miss so if you have any observations, once the promotion starts, please let us know here. Remember that Bakery products also include certain cakes, donuts and some other sweet treats sold in the Bakery area.

I noticed 2 other products in the Victorian catalogue which had double points attached to them which don't fit into the above categories.

Page 10 Leggo's Pasta Sauce and Page 11 San Remo Pasta. Check the catalogue and the shelf information for exactly which products are included. There is a chance that different states will included different products for this particular promotion.

But Woolworths thought they would send my mum and my wife the same promotion available to everyone and need to also activate it.

I got an email today from Woolworths Rewards which clarifies the current general double points promotions. The following are extracts from the email.

"Now you’ll earn double points with every bread & bakery, cheese, chilled yoghurt, museli bars, pasta & pasta sauce purchase in store and online until Tuesday, 1st November 2016."

"Double Points Category Offer
^Offer available until 01/11/16 at participating Woolworths supermarkets (excluding Tasmania), Woolworths Metro or Woolworths online. Earn double (2x) points in the following categories: bread and bakery, cheese, chilled yoghurt, muesli bars, pasta and pasta sauce. Excludes Frozen Yoghurt & Yoghurt Ice Cream. Excludes Pasta Salads and Frozen, Fresh and Pre-prepared Pasta Meals. Double points equals 1 standard Woolworths point and one additional Woolworths point. To receive your double points, you must scan your Woolworths Rewards card at the checkout or enter your card number at the checkout when shopping online. Offer can be redeemed multiple times throughout the promotional period. "

This clarifies why there were pasta products in the catalogue with the double points logo. There are lots of exceptions to the current promotion so shop carefully and have fun.

I commented to another staff member this morning when we saw the Bakery double point offer that I'd expect Produce to go on double points in November when this current offer ends. He then said that then they'll do Groceries? To which I replied that was unlikely and they'd do it in different product categories.
A short time later, I found out about the cheese, yogurt, etc.

Excludes Pasta Salads and Frozen, Fresh and Pre-prepared Pasta Meals
That would cover pasta products found in the freezer, deli, and perishables, leaving just what is located in the long life aisle. I will have to find out if it covers all pasta products in groceries, such as things like easy mac and noodles.

I'm not too sure about the "bread and bakery". It depends how they classify it for the double points.
There are 2 different departments that come under "bakery". Proprietary and in store. Prop Bake covers items like the 4 pack muffins, most cakes... Mostly things that are pre packaged with multiple items in the box. In store is the items either made completely in store (for stores that have full production bakery departments), or the parbaked items which are cooked in an oven in store before sale (for stores with Maxi bakeries). This covers single muffins, rolls, donuts, lamingtons, cookies, etc. There are different bread lines in both departments.
I'm under the impression that not every fine department in the 2 bakery departments are covered.

For cheese, there are cheese products in 3 departments, the Deli cheese bar, the dairy cheese section and some long life cheese generally kept near the pasta. I'm thinking this offer only covers the cheese found in the dairy section.

Himeno, I know you're still doing research on the bakery and bread offer and the departments involved, but when you can, would you let us know if it covers packaged bread which is usually in the grocery aisles separate to the bakery products.
