LOL... No problem Sir... Should I charge the cost to your Centurion card?

Only just seen this thread, very cool idea. Have a good time :)

I’d like to give my viewpoint based on past posts, that if those who aren’t Centurion, but were interested in becoming centurion, wanted to join, they should. But if you just want to poke fun, have a good time, or don’t actually ever want to be a Centurion member, why bother complaining about not being invited?

You have to share an interest in things to join in. I’m interested in WP for example, I hope one day to achieve it, I’ve been very close, so I enjoy F lounge runs.

I am interested in Centurion, but think I’d be in debt if I came, and besides, no income means I’m not going to be invited any time soon.

Noticed a couple of other posts re "Secret Meetings" lately. Thought this site was to share info with all for the benefit of all.
(Sounds a bit socialist)

Sometimes sharing everything with anybody that comes along doesn’t work. Sometimes people share things when they’ve got to know you, because otherwise, these 'deals' would disappear. Most things are for public consumption, but if everything was, there wouldn’t really be any deals anymore.

Hi Everyone,

UPDATE

Have heard from Amex on having a representitive in attendance for one or both events. Unfortunately there are a few internal compliance/privacy hurdles that will prevent Amex from sending representation. A bit of a shame, but I understand that position.

Amex are still supporting the events by providing concierge assistance and recommendations for both Sydney / Melbourne evenings. We should have a response tomorrow.

Hayden

Thoughts on these dates and the split location idea?[/B]

Thank you again for organising this Hayden. Despite the churlish name-calling by some on this forum (oddly done in the name of “unity” or “community"...) I’m still keen. I’m not sure where you are at in terms of dates but I am only available on Friday 4 November for SYD. However I’m sure some dates will suit some people more than others so I think you just need to pick a date and go with it. :)

Hi Homer

Once I get the recommendations from Amex I will start a new thread/poll with the details. Def will do one in Sydney and one in Melbourne.

Cheers

Update

Hi Everyone,

As promised by Centurion, I received a response with some options. Unfortunately they haven't provided costings, so I have asked her to get these and come back to us.

Here is the email. My thoughts are that we should aim for a 12/16 person table, so that narrows them down a bit.

Dear Mr. haydensydney

Trust you’re having a good day so far.

I have called around a few places to offer you a few suggestions with restaurants in Sydney and Melbourne that have private dining and chef’s table options. Melbourne in general did not seem to have many chef’s table options in some of its popular restaurants.

Please find the information below.

Sydney
Glass Brasserie: 1 Chef’s table/ 1 private dining room (seats 14)
Rockpool: 1 Chef’s table/ 1 private dining room (seats 22)
Café Sydney: No chef’s table/ 1 private dining room (seats 16)
Est : No Chef’s table/ 1 private dining room (seats 16)
Pendolino: No Chef’s table/ 1 private dining room (seats 16)
Spice Temple: No Chef’s table/ 1 private dining room (seats 12)
Wildfire: No Chef’s table/ 1 private dining room (seats 40)

Melbourne
Gross Florentino: 1 Chef’s table/ 1 private dining room (seats 16)
Press Club: No Chef’s table/ 1 private dining room (seats 30)
Cutler & Co: No Chef’s table/ 1 private dining room (seats 32)
Momo: No Chef’s table/ various private dining rooms (Turquoise option seats 14)
Nobu: No Chef’s table/ 1 private dining room (seats 12)

Please advise your preference from the above mentioned and I’m more than happy to look into some availability for you

Does anyone have any recommendations re: the above list?

I've frequented all listed Melbourne establishments, but am particularly fond of Cutler & Co. Recently attended the 2011 Vogue Living dinner at said location and was, as usual, impressed with service and quality of product served.

I’ve had an event at the private dining room at Est and it was good but I think a bit stuffy for what might be a rather jovial group Hayden ;).

From that list, Cutler & Co in Melbourne hands down! Absolutely beautiful food, and excellent service.

Momo was very good, although I found the way the menu worked a little strange with the share plate options and meal "packages". We had a special offer there - I don't think it was quite worth the full price they were charging.

The Press Club I've never been to but have heard it is very good. I know the former manager, but she has since moved to George Colombaris' new restaurant "St Katherines" in Kew which is a little more casual but fabulous. Not sure if Amex could arrange something there (it's not on the Amex list) but we're guaranteed a great night as Anita will look after us and it will be VIP treatment! Last time we went there we arrived at 7:30pm and rolled out at 1:30am! Matt Preston's chauffeur at the next table (massive DYKWIA) was most disappointed that we received more preferential treatment than he did!

I haven't been to Nobu but have heard it is very good, although the odd report indicates it's possibly not that great value for money. There are probably better Japanese restaurants (Yu-u for example) for a lot less money. Now I know we're talking about a Centurion dinner here, but I'm sure everyone still wants value for their money!

Pendolino in Sydney I've been to several times and has always been excellent, however I don't think I'll make it in Sydney so don't let me sway you!

Oh I missed Grossi Florentino (note it is Grossi not "Gross" like the Amex email said!)

I haven't been but have been told it is excellent, and have been meaning to try it.

Ill be in the USA for both of those dates :(

No chance in coming at all, if i was allowed

Restaurant

Cutler & Co: They are booked out on both 04[SUP]th[/SUP] & 05th of November

I will check re: $7000 as this seem ridiculous.

Hayden

For the Sydney event, I'm leaning towards Glass Brasserie.

For Melbourne, we may need to look at other options.

Yeah that $7k doesn't sound right - that would be $500 a head, but if the 8 courses is only $195, then we'll have to have 7 bottles of Grange to make up the difference...

Hmmm, maybe that IS an option?! ;)

Centurion have advised that it is indeed $7000 - so not really my top pick. Might be a hard sell with the husband, lol

(+ if there were 10 of us, that would be $700 a head - slightly OTT).

Sounds wonderful! Only wish I could make it, flying back from HK that day. Guess with a frequent flyer site its only to be expected that some people will be travelling :) Thanks for organising Hayden and I wish you all a great evening.
Best regards
Angela
