Would you guest a total stranger into the Qantas Lounge?

I am at Haneda airport. I was wandering around this afternoon with perfectly new bottle of water and a lovely apple. I couldn't give it away before I went through security - the non-Asian I asked were rude when they refused it.
I thought about guesting someone into the lounge, but no-one was near the lounge entry area. Shame the people earlier were so rude, otherwise I would've made more effort given the circumstances here in Tokyo.
I don't think I will bother again unless someone asks me nicely.
Note: My Cathay invite to the JAL Sakura lounge explicitly stated +1 guest.

A few years back now just out of Uni I was travelling to Canada for the obligatory 6-month working ski holiday.

Booked on points, from memory my routing was SYD - MEL - AKL - LAX - YYC with 6 hours in AKL. On the MEL - AKL leg I got chatting to the older woman sitting beside me and it ended up coming out that I had 6 hours in AKL. On arrival she said she knew a good spot to wait out my layover in the airport and said she'd show me it - ended up taking me to the QP, guested me in and then left. She didn't even have an onward flight that day.

She made my trip!

closest I've got to guesting a stranger was giving away a guest pass which was about to expire when i arrived back from flight to someone waiting in the check in queue.

Now I might keep more of a look out and if i come across some in "need" offer them a friendly gesture. Will be looking tomorrow morning for someone who wants to go in J lounge in BNE

I can now say I have guested someone in. In transit to LHR a few weeks ago via HKG, there was an elderly lady who was looking a little flustered. I asked her if she'd like to spend the transit in the F lounge, which she was happy to do.

She commented that 'her son gets access to all these lounges and things' but she didn't seem too appreciative.

Still, I felt good helping someone out, and she got to spend time in the oh-so-quiet QF F lounge (and yes, it was pretty much empty).

I was departing ex-JNB with another WP and noticed two elderly folks in wheel chair and walking stick in public area. Offered them lounge access (Albeit Sholonglo lounge), only to be told that they don't offer 'guesting'! Felt worse for the whole inconvenience. Best I learn my non-QF lounge priveleges better in future before dashing any more hopes.

I've guested into Star Alliance and Emirates lounges the odd seat companion I've had interesting coversations with, including nice ladies and the like.

Doesn't cost anything (no guest passes or any similar nonsense), and it is usually well appreciated.

Maybe once or twice a year...

We shall see if anyone queueing up at CX on Sunday morning wants to be guested...

Didnt see anyone around to guest, only the WIFI scammers out the front of the lounge entrance...maybe in SYD when I get there on my SC run

Since I posted this thread I have been looking to guest someone into the lounges but there does not appear to be anyone wanting to be guested.

Anyway when I travelled VA a few months back I went to the QF Lounge in BNE at waited for around 15 minutes looking lost. Not one person offered to help. I even begged someone to let me in but they jsut ignored me and kept walking.

I am not doing that again.

No lounge access in BNE international last night and in SIN this morning but I seem to have survived the experience.

Guested a gent into BNE QP a while ago. I was stuck waiting for my mobile boarding pass to load again for some reason, and he was taking the attendants full attention with questions like "Why can I not come in if I am flying QF?" "What is a frequent flyer program?".

Needless to say the lady explaining that you need to be gold or silver wasn't getting anywhere, and he looked confused and dissappointed. Since the lady was a bit of a cow to me I approached the desk with my loaded boarding pass, presented it for scanning (cow!), and preceded to tell her this gent was my guest for this afternoon, as I was entitled to. The look on her face.... Classic! Needless to say I had a quick chat to the gent who was thankful, parked himself on a table with a drink and left him be.

It's a nice feeling I think, but it was better to get up the cow on the BNE QP desk

I'm usually a bit shy approaching people! So as yet I haven't done it! But i think i need to just say stuff it and go and ask someone loitering around the entrance!

Actually I would love to do it when flying INT and can guest to the F lounge!

I usually get knocked back when offering to guest total strangers, couples, singles makes no difference. The only success I had was a couple of blokes who were asking the security screeners about the location of the food court in SYD T3, I just asked them if they waited to go to the business lounge. They had just delivered a trawler to Sydney and where flying home.

Not really a stranger but I have guested in travelers who I meet on adventure tours. At that stage we all feel like family.

I've also given away guest passes (in the pre enhancement days) that I wasn't going to use and an AFF member posted me a pass for a family member once (thanks).

I'd definitely help in the right circumstances. Helping someone at no real cost to yourself can be a good experience.

Yes I have guested people into the SYD and MEL F Lounge. It is easier to ask someone or preferably a couple, when I am flying JQ and have to line up in the Y lines. It is a bit of a dag to either wait for them after C&I but I just hope it is good karma, saving it for the day when I am non-WP someone kind will offer me a F Lounge spot ;)

I did it this year guesting a couple into the SYD business lounge; it really made their day and were so thankful.

Well I have guested a total stranger into the MEL QP.But then again she was on the same PNR as myself so really couldn't turn her down!
Coming back from DPO-all flights cancelled but QF changed me to a flight out of LST.Needless to say missed my JQ flight to MCY-a much younger woman had missed her JQ flight to BNE and was in tears. So took her to the QF service desk and a brilliant agent changed our JQ tickets to QF for the last plane of the night to BNE-at no cost.Put us on the 1 PNR for ease of doing it so they couldn't knock me back for guesting a stranger could they?

Variation to this theme: Last night in MEL I was asked by the woman following me in the security queue if I woud take her as a guest into the QP. I had my WP card in my hand and she must have noticed it. I was happy to oblige. She was mightlily impressed with the J Lounge - she was only expecting to be taken into the QP. We had a chat and went our different ways.

Good deed for the day!
