WP treatment in Y

anyway, will be interesting to see of this is just a one off or if in fact things have changed and amenities will not be given out unless you are in the applicable cabin.

These mythical J NC headphones I keep reading about. Are they on domestic too? Coz I've never seen them, not unless they look identical to the cheap non-J non-NC headphones.

So far I only saw them on some east-west coast flights.

Pretty sure just on QFi services, on the odd past occasion an International aircraft might have done a domestic sector (vaguely recall 767 with duty free catalogues).

From memory they are powered by a third prong, so only work in the aircraft seats that have that facility.

Considering it's not Champagne if it's not from France, i'd say it's a luxury everywhere :P
Except that some US wineries can still legally call their product 'champagne'. (if they had been making said thing at the time the French cracked down on use of the word)

seriously - why do so many platinums ask for premium amenities (alcohol, headphones, PJs, amenity kits)?
Realistically, what are they going to ask for? Not much in asking for something from your own cabin! QF just need to cater for it, or say no you can't have it.

indeed. 'grandfather rights'.

but for non-us citizens, the use of the word 'French' in front of champagne is not required. if something is advertised as 'champagne' then it relates to only one thing.

I got them a couple of times on the A330 service to PER. Once in J and second time was offered when siting in Y.

as I mentioned earlier... the only thing I ever asked for was my preferred meal choice. it was something that was from within the cabin I was flying. you might ask for a drink before the (slow) bar service starts. lots of things that could be requested that don't involve a 'premium' element.

if I wanted additional amenities, then I would have paid for those. as I didn't pay for them then I didn't need them. so why would I ask for them?

if platinums want additional amenities, then they should be made available to everyone, for a fee.

some airlines are already doing this... you have the option of paying $50 (or whatever it is) to reserve a business class meal with business class wine.

if people want PJs or headphones, those could be requested and paid for before departure.

on another thread someone mentioned they swap seats with their partner in business class several times during the flight. so we potentially have a platinum paying rock bottom fares, but get PJs, the amenity kit, headphones AND then get to sleep in a full flat bed. why pay for business class at all?

As a WP1 who regularly travels in whY the only thing I ask for is a better blanket, I frequent 80A/80K a lot and it makes for a great sleep.

Most of the time the bring you a better pillow too.

Stuff the fancy bubbles it's all about arriving in good shape.

I've never asked for anything however, I've been given headphones, drinks and been one of the first to be served drinks on CX.

I had my first WP international flight yesterday/today (QF 93). Had a nice greeting from the CSM or CSS (missed the exact intro) and when asked if there was anything she could do I said "nah I'll be right". Later on, after the lunch/dinner meal, I wondered whether I could get an espresso from up the front rather than the filter coffee. When I asked "you don't happen to have any espresso coffee do you?" I got a polite "no, sorry". The person serving the tea/coffee wasn't the one I had the greeting from at the start of the flight though. Maybe I could have flagged down the greeter, but that seemed like too much of a fuss.

Anyone asked for good coffee as part of their "anything I can do for you"? I'm thinking I'd rather that than the possible glass of champagne!

The guy sitting across the aisle from me today in row 32 had a cup of coffee in fine china cup / plate after breakfast.

He & I were greeted after take off by the CSM who discretely gave me the inbound express pass (and also to my +1 after a quick confirmation) so I assumed he must also be WP at least.

CSM also asked if I needed anything and I said 'no, thanks'.

WP, two Q dom. flights past few days, treated as a bronze.

Do you mean you received no special treatment?

That's the norm in domestic Y I find. It makes the very occasional individual greeting all that more special. ;-)

mrpooky.

Interesting one on todays SYD-OOL flight.

CSM addressed me by first name when we were disembarking from todays flights. I was only in 4D and there were 11 in business class.
