I am going to be in Sydney (from Perth) over the weekend of 14 to 17 December. Flying to UK on Monday 17th so this is the only weekend I can make it.

I'd really like to attend, but it is unlikely to happen. Hence I haven't filled in the form since I probably won't be involved. If I do get my cough together, I'll go with the flow.

Is there any value in end of year awards? I'll throw my hat in for DYKWIA of the year. (I don't think we need to vote on that one) Most helpful poster, "Mod of the year" etc etc?

I, too, am a flow-goer

With the number of responses so far, I may have to hire an aircraft hanger to hold the event in! Overwhelming Saturday night so far, close race between Melbourne and Sydney, and "don't care" on meal types.

Thanks for the feed back so far :-)

Great stuff. Any chance of a decision before the Great Getaway end of 23rd?

I have been talking with Hilton Sydney events people, but they are harder to deal with than a pack of hungry crocodiles. With the indications of preference being very level between HSW and HSYD, and knowing HSW, and QJ35 flying that day, and a few other things, HSW is getting pretty high on the heap unless HSYD really come to the party. HSYD restaurant is owned by separate company and the hotel and restaurant don't seem to interact very well in a group situation..

23rd, I'll try and push, but no promise as I still have a full time job to do as well ;-)

Disappointing that they're being difficult at Hilton Sydney. I am trying to sort out a bill from a recent stay with Hilton Sydney and am getting the run around - not giving me a proper tax invoice (showing GST of $0.00), awarding me a total of 317 base points for the stay (I wish it would have been only $31.70 to stay there!), and giving me the runaround over 48 hours trying to get it resolved. I can only imagine the problems you're having with them, munitalP.

If it has to be Melbourne, so be it. If I could link it with an F-lounge run, that would be perfect!

The final location is a non-issue for me. After all, this is the Australian FREQUENT FLYER.

However as I previously posted, Saturday would be better for people to fly in and avoid taking time off work, etc.

I imagine if it's Fri 21 we are talking about, you may find that most people will be taking POETS day to the extreme that day anyway!!

True, but some members do have 'face time' (or a trans-continental flight) to worry about ;)

I have to say, I'm starting to get excited about this already.

I'm not sure if it's the company of some really interesting characters (let's face it, we're all like chalk and cheese but united by a love/hate realtionship with flying), or just the next opportunity to partake in festivities of a totally frivolous nature.

Bring on Dec (not intending to wish my life away there).

PS....Sir MunitalP, how 'bout at least a city prior to 23rd ;)

How about Hilton Sydney on the Friday night, an F lounge in Sydney then Hilton South Wharf on the Saturday night, I am happy with any city chosen. :)

See post #30 ...

What's post #30 got to do with it?

Anyway, according to my most recent emails from Hilton, the Great Getaway finishes Aug 1.

Take some well-deserved time off with The Great Getaway. Save up to 25% when you book by August 1, 2012 and stay by December 30, 2012 at participating Hilton Hotels & Resorts in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji or French Polynesia.
