XMAS Event 2012 - planning thread

I'll get into the form later tonight, but I seem to be a bit restricted in my flying. I'm ever hopeful that the powers that be will see this as a positive thing for me to attend, but they've been pretty awful up to this point and I can't guarantee anything it seems.

Would be nice to catch up with people again if I'm allowed.

The December Xmas event will be held on December 22nd 2012

Venue: Hilton Hotel, South Wharf, Melbourne @1800hrs starting in the exec lounge.

Agenda:

1200: Meet at SYD INT (for those who wish to attend)
1201: Up into the Qantas First Class Lounge
1515: JQ35 SYD/MEL - Present cost is $79.00

1800: Pre dinner drinks / Industry Speaker / Kris Kringle / Industry give away and get together in Exec Lounge
2100: Dinner - Restaurant to be confirmed (a la carte service or set menu)

Thanks oz_mark and serfty. It seems I've got both those promo dates intertwined.

So the one I was thinking about and serfty attached above is not the promo (for stays up until 30-9-12 only) but the one oz_mark has linked to, seems to be OK and we don't have to book until 1-8-12 and is valid for stays before 30-12-12. Good stuff. I looked, but I don't have that promo email (may have deleted it thinking it was the same as the previous) so does anyone know if we had to register before a certain date to be eligible? I've checked the link page and it doesn't say but funny enough, when you follow the T&C link from that page, it takes you to the Great Getaway sale previous....including the 23 July and 30 sept dates???????

I'm going to be just back from a DONE5 and inbetween jobs at this time - it's probably going to be the right time for me to jump in and make it to my first AFF event!

I'm wondering about whether I should make it a bit bigger myself - 2 or 3 days:

Friday 21st December: Stay in Hilton Sydney
Saturday: JQ35 run with everyone else.
Saturday night: HSW and the AFF do
Sunday night: stay in Melbourne, do HSW again Sunday night.
Monday: JQ3 flight back to Sydney (3:45pm) for a second F lounge run.

Anyone else want to consider doing this? I realise this puts the flight home dangerously close to Christmas for most people, though.

Now we just need a good TT sale so we can do some serious JQ price beating!

In addition, if anyone needs them, I'll have two "member for a stay" vouchers that will give people 20% off food and accommodation if they're not Hilton Macquarie Discount members (gets the cost of HSW down to under $150/night on the current Getaway Sale). And if others have no status with Hilton, I"m happy to book and extra room under my membership which should afford them Diamond benefits as well (Breakfasts/Upgrades/Exec Lounge Access) - unfortunately the diamond benefits aren't guaranteed, but in my experience they're reasonably good at extending them to a second room. I'm sure there are others on this thread that would happily do the same, too.

Just booked using my annual $99 Maq Members rate.

Sale rate is $186 for 'basic' room.

With the 20% "Member for a Stay" card that brings it down to ~$149 (+ 20% of F&B at the Hotel). I have two if any are interested.

If booked using the "The Great Getaway" $186 rate, put "Hilton Maq. Member for a Stay - 20pc rate $149" into comments box and retain a screen print after booking.

They will deduct the $186 from your CC and provide a $37 credit to your stay folio.

Also one will need to get a "Guest Pass activation code" from here: Hilton Macquarie - Hilton Macquarie Guest Pass Activation

I'm really giving serious thought to coming back on JQ3 on Mon 24th Dec at 3:45pm, but was also thinking it might be fun to try a stay at HOP on the Sunday night (rate is currently $134, or $107 if you're on the Hilton Macquarie discount). If there are a bunch of people staying on at HSW though, I'll stick with booking HSW for two nights.
