XMAS Event 2012 - planning thread

Myself and +1 are Platinum for dinner, HSW on Saturday night and JQ35.

Looking forward to another meet-up - thanks a bunch for organising munitalP.
Now to decide when to return to Sydney to be with the family

Trying to make things work but airfares and accommodation are too expensive at that time of the year.

You know JQ is not an option....

I will be there for this one. Looking forward to finally meeting people!

Have filled out the second survey; booked a room at HSW; but as I live in Gippsland, will not be on any flights.

Edit: While probably redundant, I've just completed the original survey as well, indicating I'll go with the flow :)

And how do you think I would go with JQ with my luck?

After something like 160+ return flights with J* over a 4 year weekly commute - first hand experience says you have nothing to worry about.

Now that you're an Established Member of AFF, there are a few things you should know about some of us around here. One of them is not to put JohnK and JQ in the same post! :p :o

As for the food, I'm definitely more for quality rather than quantity. An alternate drop is OK with me as long as both options are, in and of themselves, well prepared and great quality choices (and I'd probably happily swap with anyone who wants whatever I get dropped with). After all, there's F Lounge and Exec Lounge before dinner that day - that's already a lot of food and alcohol (or drink in general :o) to take into account.....

Hmmmm........

Let's put it this way.

JQ will never get the opportunity to let me down....

I would suggest that you're luck is exactly why they want you along. I can just see it now:

"Oh, JohnK's here, the planes delayed; Whatever shall we do? Struggle through another plate of salt and pepper squid, I suppose. Bolly or Stolly, Pats?"

In fact, more delay is even better. Joyce-y himself would be down there loading bags just to get them out of the First lounge.....

If JohnK goes I might have to break my no fly JQ rule just for the experience :p

I am probably a bronze as so close to XMas with work commitments.

If there is a BNE catch up around then will make an effort.

LOL!

HSW is still available at $186 and HOTP at $134 (& 20% less if you can get a HPC discount)
You really are trying to twist my arm. Not sure the finance minister is going to be happy with me attending the XMAS event and a 10 day trip to Thailand already booked for a couple of days later.

Hilton on the Park @ $134 sounds OKish and I do have the old HPC discount cards without an expiry date. Are these still valid?

I used one at the recent Do at Hilton Surfers Paradise. The person checking me in even recognised it as such but it still seemed to be OK. That said, I wouldn't count on that being precedent or such; the more experienced here might like to weigh in.

Anyway, I'm Platinum (in two senses of the word ;)) for JQ35. Booked the Starter Plus fare so I can get a squiggle; seated in 26D at current.

I'm posting this with the approval of munitalP, as this is not an official part of the weekend, but I need to get an idea of how many are interested in JQ3 on Monday 24th December (MEL 1435-SYD 1600). Currently flight is about $65 on JQ, but a pricebeat with TT can bring it down to about $45.

At the moment I am getting several requests from people who are looking to use my guest spot for the MEL F lounge and are willing to book, but I can't guest everyone. Therefore, if you're planning to fly back on JQ3, can you PM me with the following to avoid filling this thread with replies:

* How many people you would book for if the JQ3 F Lounge run was on (yourself, yourself and one other, etc.)
* Whether the numbers you are booking for have OneWorld Emerald (or Sapphire) status
* Do you either need a guest spot to get into the Lounge, or you have a spare guest spot in order to assist with guesting another passenger that isn't OneWorld Emerald on the same flight.

I'll report back in a few days with details after I get all the PMs with whether this is viable. If it is, the Monday F Lounge run is on and I'll confirm with plenty of time for people to make bookings. If it's not, I'll just close it off and make private arrangements.
