A couple of years ago I was looking for a rental house - the first one was perfect for the family in every way, and all on a single level. The second house was split between three levels which was going to require a lot of walking between the upstairs bedrooms and the laundry on the lowest level. But in the study it had a 2 x 4 metre world map on the wall, with a glass face that allowed endless planning of routes in coloured marker pens. "We" chose the second house
