You know you are a frequent flyer when ...

My personal theory is that they were only able to select 5B, as a silver or something, and got some DYKWIA stupidity and decided they deserve row 5. I'm sticking with row 6, but almost moved to 5C based on the Qantas seat map and the assumption it was a shadow. Lucky I checked Expert flyer, which has just paid for itself.

If I didn't have row 6, I'd be happy with 10D/C over 5B

(I reckon FroggerADL has stolen my 4D ;))

I'm getting quite excited about my next (return) flight and how I have routed it between BNE-BKK - but I cannot explain it anyone.

Whats more it is all on EK except one sector. (MU5699/5700 doesn't count if I choose them over a Bus or Train)

Ah the genius logic behind that I believe is that a couple won't be able to sit there so the pax in 5B thinks they will get three seats to themselves. :what:

The reality is a tad different as it could well be a full flight so 5B will just end up with a solo seatmate either side that has a window or aisle preference. :p
Yep, I know. My +1 and I try it with A and C frequently, but waaay more often than not, we get someone in B.
As soon as they realise we're together, they nicely offer to swap with one of us...........only to be disappointed with the response "Thanks, but no. We've been together for 30 years, the separation will do us good!" ;)

We do the same because no one really wants to be stuck in the middle. Though we did end up with someone in 4E who explained they had asked to be moved to the front "to get off quicker". Where they needed to be in a hurry at 11pm in Wellington is a mystery to me....

Home I expect

Those extra four minutes make all the difference.

Such a shame she missed out on the champagne that was being offered to 4D and 4F.

That is impressive!

I'm also incredibly proud of my own creative routing for an upcoming 3-day trip to Tokyo. All are short stopovers.

Not sure if you've been to CMB before, but we did a short stopover (basically to get a reward booking) and ended up somewhat disappointed that we didn't stay longer. CMB is just another dirty city, but the Sri Lankan country as a whole is a wonderful place to visit, thoroughly enjoyable and easily worthy of a couple of weeks (IMHO).

Likewise, I'm doing a few nested revenue J trips from CMB over the next year, so will be visiting it a fair bit. Sadly, it's only one night at a time (didn't want to risk delays since inbounds and outbounds are all same carrier but separate bookings).

Have not been before, so definitely have no idea of what to expect. I've managed to get a full day in the city each time which is at least better than a quick connection.

If we had just done CMB, I would have thought "I can do without ever experiencing this place again" as it was just another coughpy, big city. The jewel of Sri Lanka is out of the city. We're looking forward to going back, but CMB will be a place to depart from and that's it. We'll fly in and head straight from the airport to our first destination....which won't be CMB. The airport BTW, is about an hour from the city, so there is nothing to stop us heading to other spots in a relatively short stay.

......and I'm annoyed. It doesn't beep domestically, but it does internationally. I never knew Int scanners were more sensitive! $50 for a belt and it doesn't work! :(
Designer belt buckle? My Thai el cheapo belt buckle beeped at BNE priority security line on Friday. Doesn't normally beep but occasionally they have the setting on sensitive? Take the belt buckle off for most international flights as it is guaranteed to beep.

The further back you go and the longer it takes to get off aircraft. Not a problem if you aren't in a hurry but can be a problem if you are catching last bus from BNE airport to DFO.

We got to the city in about 30 mins on the freeway around midnight.

I have just returned from visiting the country and will put a trip report up soon. Was thanks to suggestion here to visit!
