...when you know the NATO phonetic alphabet, and learned it from actual regular use? :D

Didn't help last week when I had to make a phone booking and the agent came back with the booking reference "X-X-X-Alpha-Lima-X-X".
I said that can't be right as it has seven characters.

After several repeats I finally realised she was actually saying "X-X-X-'L' for Lima-X-X.

I look forward to your report

Unfortunately, not much to report. As expected there were only about 4 empty seats on the flight, none in the first 3 rows. The person in 5B wasn't who I was expecting to see there. I think there might have been some chances and/or upgrade.
No FroggerADL in 4D either.

When the Tripcase app welcomes you home, but your away again.

When you've got about 15 hire cars saved into the blue tooth settings on your phone.

... you realise the 'lounge' is a place to fill in time between check in and boarding and not a destination itself!

Maybe I do fly too much, as there is no lounge I would deliberately spend more than 30 minutes in if I could time everything perfectly (and then generally only to get something to eat if the lounge has something decent). Most lounges I would avoid completely if possible as I would rather spend my time where I am or where I am going.

Or getting into a hire car and finding your phone has already paired?! I do try and remember to remove my phone from the car before I off-hire it, but sometimes these things are too rushed!

If we had just done CMB, I would have thought "I can do without ever experiencing this place again" as it was just another coughpy, big city. The jewel of Sri Lanka is out of the city. We're looking forward to going back, but CMB will be a place to depart from and that's it. We'll fly in and head straight from the airport to our first destination....which won't be CMB. The airport BTW, is about an hour from the city, so there is nothing to stop us heading to other spots in a relatively short stay.

Been to CMB a few times - have a Sri Lankan friend who I knew from him being a sales manager for a Bangkok factory I once dealt with - but have since retired and moved back to his wife in CMB.

He suggested the best place to go for an overnight transit in CMB is a hotel is "NEGOMBO", and ideally beach front. There is a lot of new hotels and resorts being built in Negombo also, so should see a lot of nice options there. Negombo is a 20 minute drive from the Airport.

I have come to love the food, namely the seafood spreads they all put on, which does not disappoint. Isn't cheap, but isn't expensive, but is very enjoyable.

your on a covert, secret CIA operation and you use your real FF number for your flight home.

as reported in another thread

You get really annoyed when airline res people read back pnrs etc and don't use the proper phonetic alphabet.

Such violations include "T" for Tommy, "N" for Nancy, "M" for mother etc etc.

I will forgive any Confederate or other Southern folk who don't like "Y" for Yankee.

As for the rest it's not Wheel of Fortune so time to get with the program!

Do the airline res folk prefer customers to use phonetics when reading out their PNR?. If I can use the phonetic fluently I can be true blue frequent flyer?

I booked for a friend recently with a name with lots of odd letter combinations and a few Zs. The res person was obviously relieved when I could spell it out phonetically.

The international telephones exchanges use to (do they still even have those anymore), they said "A for Alfred, B for Benjamin, C for Charlie, D for David down to T for Tommy and Z for Zebra".
