Supposed to be announced at 2pm from Miami-- not an ex-Miami route though.

Re: Major new AA route to be announced June 9th.

That's not a new route but OW alliance is meeting in MIA. Qatar threatens to leave OW:

Qatar Airways Threatens To Leave Oneworld Alliance - One Mile at a Time

Foreigner with respect I think you might have gotten the wires crossed. The QR announcement came at the IATA conference as has the press call for tomorrow's AA announcement. Doug Parker (AA CEO) is making an AA specific announcement tomorrow.

Sorry I don't have the link but other aviation forums have shared links to the press conference.

Cheers

Indeed. My post wasn't related to the thread.

Re: Major new AA route to be announced June 9th.

This would make me very happy

Re: Major new AA route to be announced June 9th.

Veeeeery interesting.

If it gives a good connection through to YVR or YYC, it'll be worth me giving it a try, at least.

Good to keep the pressure on TPAC J fares too.

Re: Major new AA route to be announced June 9th.

Exciting if they put a 787 on it.

Re: About time - some real competition USA-AU OW

I would be hAApy to see more competition, but would not consider flying AA across the Pacific unless they really improved their long-haul product.

Who in their right mind would choose AA over QF?!

Re: About time - some real competition USA-AU OW

The signs seem to be pointing towards LAX-SYD.

Re: About time - some real competition USA-AU OW

Since QF / AA joint venture, I doubt there will be major impact on pricing as don't they profit share?

Re: About time - some real competition USA-AU OW

What ever comes of this AAnouncement, I'll be crossing my fingers to see a One World carrier fly from SFO to an Australian port, once again as its crying out for more competition.

Maybe wishful thinking on my part, but If AA picks up a AUS > LAX route, QF maybe able to free up a plane or two in order to serve a new destination.
