Flying to SIN this afternoon and am plonked here in the MH business lounge waiting the flight.

First impressions the lounge is very modern and the front desk staff seemed ok nothing extraordinary.

Went straight to the spa and got 50 min massage 250 ringit, not bothered about the cost just wanted to unwind after a long week of meetings. The masuer was very good to almost excellent, made the SYD Flounge massage seem like a dog pat. After that went and had a very nice shower all amenties catered for.

Nice and refreshed I served myself some very nice mild green coconut curry with steamed rice and sipped on a cola.

Just about to board so will sign off, all in all if you're in KL flying with MH or affiliate I think you'll like the lounge.

There are three MH golden lounges at KLIA - domestic, international regional and international satellite. By the sounds of it you were likely in the satellite lounge. You were lucky it was recently refurbished and reopened about 2 weeks ago. My main criticism before was that it was looking a bit tired, so it be pretty good now. From what I have heard it is now the refurbishment went great and your review seems to back that up. Also the international golden lounge at Kota Kinabalu has also been refurbished to a similar modern design.

With MH joining OW a lot more people will have access to it. The interesting thing is that there is a business lounge, first class lounge and a platinum suite. Yet the platinum suite is actually a higher rank than the first class lounge. MH platinum is a lot harder to obtain than Qantas platinum. I would actually rate it harder to get than Qantas platinum 1. Will be interesting to see if OW emerald will get access to the platinum suite or just the first class lounge.

Richie I was at the H gate lounge up the ecsalator yes it did look quite newish

Last used the MH Lounge in June 2009. At that stage did not have much to compare to and thought it was great. Have just come back from a trip on SQ in J and experienced SilverKris lounges in Brisbane, Terminal 3 at Changi and the SAS lounge in Copenhagen.
In my view the MH is far superior to Brisbane and Copenhagen and slightly better than SilverKris lounge in Terminal 3 Changi. Food is better in the MH lounge. Also found the MH lounge to have more lighting than SQ lounge though I would expect it toi be deliberate that the SQ lounge is dark.
Good to see MH lounge has been upgraded.

The refurbished lounge in the satellite terminal has been very nicely done up. I really liked it when I was there about 2 weeks ago. The regional lounge in the main terminal is also very nice. The domestic lounge in the main terminal has also been been nicely refurbished. OW Emerald will get access to the first class lounge but only Enrich platinum members will get access to the platinum suite (and to the first class lounge, of course).

I did a review of the MH lounges at KUL on youtube not long ago...

Thanks for sharing the video. It brings back good memories of the times I have used the lounge (only 4). Still think it compares very favourably with SilverKris lounge in Terminal 3 at Changi.
The MH lounge is alot lighter and you have a view.

Love the KLIA Lounge, as well as the Singapore Lounge too. but for me (being a dirty filthy smoker) the MH lounge wins. it has it's own "smoking room" out the back. you do not have to exit the lounge completely to use this room as you do in Singapore. so you can actually take your drink from the bar to the smoking room with you, where as Singapore you can't!
just my 2 cents worth from a smokers point of view

What is OWE entitled to enter at KUL?

Does QF Plats get you into their F lounge (looks very quiet)

I am finding some well priced airfares out of KUL at present.

You get acces to J and F as per normal, the Platinum lounge has been accessed with mixed success and should probably be considered like BAs Concorde room.

I am in the Golden Lounge in the satellite terminal this morning.

I was invited to go to the Platinum lounge. Much smaller and boring. The business lounge has much more traffic.

P.S. You can access the Platinum lounge and v.v. via the business centre.

I am Qantas Gold and will have a 9 hour overnight transit in KLIA flying MH from BKK-KUL-BNE next month. Does anyone know if the Golden Lounge is open all night? Any idea if there is room for sleeping there? Or maybe its better to pay for a room at the transit hotel?

Aren't you WP? Shouldnt you have gone yo the plat lounge anyway?

I had a quick visit a couple of weeks ago - must say I was disappointed with the lounge which would be their most prestigious lounge in their network. Seemed rather like a big barn and I found the advice given by the front desk for boarding unhelpful (if I'd followed it I might have missed my flight!)

The previous time I was there in February I was shown towards the Business lounge (left from entrance) and I did not know better at the time. Perhaps there were teething issues as they only just joined Oneworld at the time.

Are you flying in Y or J? If you're in J and your transit is over 6 hours, you should qualify for a free stay at the Sama-Sama Hotel (previously the Parkroyal). That would be a much better option than the lounge. If you're in Y, then you can go to the First class side as a WP and book one of their slumber rooms. If you're just SG, then you can only go to the Business class side unfortunately.

I agree with you about the Business class side. I quite like the First class side (when it's not busy) but it's not particularly special. Their best lounge is actually the First class lounge at LHR!

MH_fan has already provided a good answer but if you are interested in a transit hotel the Concorde Inn KLIA is not far from the airport and has a free shuttle to/from airport every 30 minutes or so. I was able to book a room for ~AUD60/night including breakfast for 2 in morning.

I found the F lounge at KLIA rather tedious too had to ask every time I wanted to top up my red.
In a country where alcohol is not the norm that makes you feel like a naughty schoolboy.
At least in the business lounge they let you help yourself.....

It is so much different just across the causeway.. Refinement at its best, with a well versed knowledge of what they are serving in a most obliging manner to evidently satisfy you. :D
