Qantas Platinum One experiences?

I agree with you that shadow is not a big deal, but it is a sort of unpublished benefit for P1s so I can also understand those who are upset when 4B/E is taken while other middle seats remain vacant.
Regarding your statement that although you fly a lot you don't expect to be treated any different, I think loyalty should be rewarded in different ways, like the $180 change + service fee you managed to get waved. Do you think QF does that for everyone? ;)

Totally agree, that is what I expect from loyalty...waive the unnecessary fees if requested, which I guess is the unpublished benefit I tend to use, plus requesting seats for awards when the website does not show availability:cool:

We all have our favorite perks, published or not. I respect everyone's wishes re: perks, we all have out pet peeves!

I totally understand.Had to spend 3 weeks on a cruise with that bogan just across the hall.Total arrogance and he was on a freebie. If I was in your position I would have told the cabin what I thought of him.

Gee, 3 weeks? Surprised you didn't throw him (or yourself) overboard drron. Surely that Carly Simon song, "You're So Vain" was written about him and not Warren Beatty.

Got my new P1 card today for a second year (hot it after 7 months travel) so I thought I would share the first year of P1:

  • No intl upgrades
  • No events
  • No simulator experience
  • 2 domestic upgrades in 12 months
  • No additional recognition anywhere
  • Little to no benefit from the P1 service team when I've needed something done (twice in 12 months)
  • Removal of First lounge in Singapore and HK

All in all I guess if the ACCC could get involved the QF loyalty could be up for misrepresentation :-) P1 promised the earth and in my case has delivered less benefits than I got when I was straight Platinum. I dropped QF 3 months ago and went straight to Virgin Platinum (based on extent of travel) and I have to say that once you get used to it is very good indeed. The 4 free upgrades each year are a huge lesson that QF should learn, as is the attentive service you get on the ground and in the air. I do enough flying to retain QFP1 and Virgin Plat but the only thing that keeps me even slightly associated with QF is the business / first cabins on the Emirates A380.

Advice to anyone thinking of striving for P1 - save the money and the bother!!

Hopefully QF will get its act together soon...............................

You're right it's very underwhelming indeed. As for the simulator experience if you give them a call they will give it to you. That's what I did. Apart from that there have been no invites to anything - I've made sure the interests page is up to date on profile too.

Indeed, give them a call or send an email.

Thanks - I will give it a miss though. If they cared they would actually call all P1's and schedule them in (I'm sure not gonna call and "ask" for a simulator experience that they advertise for P1's) - which reminds me; I didn't even get a "welcome" to P1 - all that happened was that I got a letter and the card. Just like yesterday when the replacement card turned up. I guess that really is the point I'm making - QF made a huge deal out of launching P1 and there isn't actually anything there to support anywhere near the hype it got. Most definitely underwhelming.

I don't believe in asking for perks. If the simulator is a P1 benefit then it should be offered to all P1s without them asking for it, same as upgrades and row 4 shadow.

I had to ask for the wine -- repeatedly -- despite it being mentioned in both the letter I got "from AJ" and the "Welcome to Platinum One" e-mail.

There's wine?

When I 'asked' about the simulator I think I merely mentioned I'd heard about it, not that I wanted my free ride. :p They then offered it. Then again, I can't recall, it was 4 months ago and I can't remember last week ;)
