Vinomofo Wine Deals

Don't want to make it too easy Steady....the excitement, the trepidation, the anticipation. oops, I was thinking about whether there's gonna be dinner for me tonight ?

Page numbers arent too useful as the number of posts per page depends on each members settings. For example, this thread only has 184 pages so I cant possibly look at page 724. A post # would be more useful.

Agree....

Ordered a case 'blind' last month. Complex enough but not awe-inspiring. Quality fruit, judicious oak. Very good for $13.50, thereabouts a normally RP of $26-30.

+1 to this review of the Tomich Hill Winemaker's Reserve Chardonnay. More complexity than you'd expect for the price paid, some oak but not heavy handed. Would be underwhelmed paying the $45 cellar door quoted price but very happy to pay $13ish.

Hi guys, great forum. Have really loved all of your opinions over the past few months. Was hoping someone might be able to help me with these two Mount Barker Rieslings? I was thinking Capel Vale but the numbers don't really add up....

I swear I wouldn't waste your time if I hadn't bothered looking extensively myself! Your help (and maybe how you found it if you want to give up your secrets ;) ) are much appreciated!

Could that be Larry Cherubino The Yard Riversdale ?

All adds up aside from the alcohol (12.5 vs 11.5).

has anybody tried previous vintage of the Maverick Cab Blend?

Yes there was one in the Boombox, it didn't do much for me from memory. Competent was about all I can remember about it. Lacked real depth or character. May have been made in a more French, food friendly style I suppose.

I had a case around a year or two ago along with the GSM. All I can recall is that I really enjoyed it, possibly more than the GSM. Great value for the price. Think I still have a bottle or two left, gonna revisit tonight.

Just cracked this one, it's a 2011 and scored 91 from JH. Definitely agree about the lack of depth, and doesn't seem to be aging too well IMO. '11 was a difficult year and this blend could do with a bit more robust fruit delivered by the mighty '13. Anyone know if the '13 has been rated by JH?

Bit O'Heaven Wines Think Outside the Circle Hilltops Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Vibrant red colour but already lost any purple hues. On first opening very berry nose but opens out in the glass to display green olive and pepper aromas. Initially very tight on the pallet, with rich berry fruit and drying tannins. A long finish.

This is first taste and will report back again once it has had some air.

Mine is a 2010. Fairly light bodied but I'm enjoying it. Not sure about food matching but going well with the tennis. Go Murray! :)

If it helps, Jeremy Oliver has a review of the Maverick Twins Cabernet blend 2013:

"Supple and fine-grained, this rather herbal, lighter-bodied red has an earthy, floral and slightly greenish bouquet whose jammy aromas of blueberries and raspberries are backed by light cedar/vanilla oak. It’s smooth and sweetly fruited, with a generous, jujube-like presence of cassis, raspberry nad blueberry flavor underpinned by fine, almost ethereal tannins and herbal nuaces, finishing with a soft acidity.

1 Star, 87 points, drink from 2015-18.”

He does note that too many Maverick reds are overripe and thus lacking in natural fruit intensity.

I must have bought the 2012 and it is beautiful. The 2013 reviews out there are highly glowing from what I have read. I love churchviews products and just bought the bartondale cab last week. If you would like a new style as I did, don't hesitate. Great value and finesse with the wines from these guys. Interestingly, had the silverleaf merlot as a free glass with a meal deal in lygon st in November and even that floored me with how good it was.

I could not help myself here as I pluck one from the cellar......and think of Robbie W.....interestingly I hope his sister wins the ozzie open

Don't let your eyes tell the brain
You should feel ashamed
Everyone needs it baby
And I feel the same
Didn't quite catch your name
Hush, hush, hush
Don't say a thing
Let's see what the night will bring
It might be everything

Oh it hurts
When you're too blind to see
Please don't read my mind
I tell the truth to me

Zin Zin Zin
Look where we've been
And where we are tonight.
Time to find that vino. Ciao
