And that is perfectly acceptable on cruises. Are the newly engaged couple interested?

Unfortunately the timing doesn't really work for me this time around :(

It's something we want to try, and we will eventually.

It's a long time ahead, but my current thinking about Port Lincoln is that I might either go to Boston Bay Winery, or else try and go up the west coast a bit. I haven't seen the west coast of Eyre Peninsula. I'm waiting to see what shore excursions there might be in that direction.

There's so much 'free' food on a cruise that I don't tend to spend time on shore days paying for yet more food.

Agree on that score and think most people feel the same. Hence the buffet raid when people are returning from shore excursions. The lunchtime cupcakes on Princess are to die for. Creme brûlée. The chocolate desserts. Mmm. Better than the savory stuff.

It depends on what the food you are paying for is. Fresh seafood or something divine are things I pay extra for. Get sick of ship's mass produced food even though it is very good. It's on a par with wedding reception food so if there is the opportunity for something different, yes please. Suppose that's why I like the specialty restaurants on board (assuming they have their own galleys) :)

Well other than the cupcakes the buffet on Diamond was weary. Breakfast ok - usually don't go to MDR for breakfast. Agree re mass produced food though - but they do manage desserts well - almost like individual creations I guess. The chocolate creations are excellent.

I'm not even a seafoodie but think a nice serve of fish (whiting?) and chips with a sauv blanc in PL would do the trick on a nice sunny day.

It's just cranberry and lime juice, right?
You mean it's alcoholic? Well I never. And me brought up as a methodist

Well that's a relief! :)
