I’m thinking more along the lines that all out war in Europe is a possibility

Highly unlikely...but if the last two years have taught us anything.....

Could well make people more jittery about booking travel to Europe though, especially eastern Europe.

Is Qantas still going to operate QF1 over russian territory?
This is insane if they are....

The Russian areas to the east of Ukraine such as the Rostov on Don FIR are closed due to the Russian military activities so you really have to go west of Ukraine now.

QF2 scheduled to take off in over an hour...still looking like flying over Russia.
Question of practicalities of another routing vs the principles of paying overflight fees to Russia

This is a government that we are in the process of sanctioning. Should QF overfly from a safety perspective?

From a safety perspective the route is well north of any hostilities, i wouldn't be concerned.

The principle of an Australian airline paying Russian ATC fees is another story.

@Admin, moderators, may we kindly have a new thread for discussing the off-topic Russian aggression?
As you can see, this has been done. For reference, the best way to bring to the attention of the moderation team is to use the "Report" feature, available on all posts.
