The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Flying ICN-SYD on JQ in business class (not a business max fare) and wanted to know whether I'd be able to access the Oneworld lounge in ICN. I have platinum status with QF.

I'd assume no considering I'm not flying on a Oneworld airline but I note this paragraph from this article - https://www.executivetraveller.com/review/oneworld-seoul-icn-lounge

In addition, Qantas tells Executive Traveller that Qantas Club members “will be eligible for the Oneworld lounge if they are travelling on a Jetstar or Qantas operated flight.”

So not sure whether on top of QC members they will also allow gold and platinum members access.

I don't think you can, as per below.

I've booked with AC to YVR via Sydney departing Brisbane, AC booked me onto a Qantas flight for the domestic leg, will they check my luggage all the way through and will I be able to use their terminal transfer service?

Yes.
Yes. Keep the boarding pass/ baggage cardboard slip QF give you. Have seen QF staff ask for that at SYD T3 gate 15
If a paid flight BNE SYD will be able to credit to QF or oneworld ffp

Not a question, but an interesting point of reference.

I just cancelled a classic reward for a JAL flight on 13 December 2025. I note it immediately went back into the 'pool' as Seats.aero sent an alert pretty much straight away, showing its availability.

Anybody looking for a PE seat for that date, 2x available now.

Question if I may please re name on E-ticket and Vietnam evisa

My concern is with upcoming MEL(QF)-HKG-(VN)SGN-(CX) HKG-(QF)MEL revenue flight in July relating to issued tickets and Vietnam e-visa.

QF e tickets have First name, middle initial, surname.
Passport is First name, 2nd name, 3rd name, surname.
Never had an issue before, but also have never had to require a visa either.

I read Vietnam visa must match Passport, understandably.
Question : Does my QF eticket have to match my Passport and evisa?

Have bought VN internal flights with passport names, ie 1st 2nd 3rd, surname.

Appreciate any information

Tickets don’t have the same capacity to exactly match passports. Often there’s just not enough room to accommodate long names, multiple names or special characters like hyphens.

Passport is the most important thing, and the visa should match that.

The ticket can be something less than the passport. Often for example tickets won’t even include middle names at all.
