For the nerds amongst us (or the technically curious), here is a website which shows some critical dates (like Y2K) and why they are critical.

Most date failures are really due to the limitations of programming languages (and thus computer systems) to store dates. Y2K was a "problem" because most programming languages only considered two-digit years, thus without proper handling they only covered years between 1900 and 1999. Year 2038 is a similar problem (due to how most dates/times are stored as binary numbers).

And of course we all know lots of date formats like "DD-MM-YYYY"; so what happens the next day after 31 December, year 9999? Of course, 99.9% of us will not give a **** because we'd truly be dead by then, although if you're writing a computer program that needs to deal with years/dates, you just might have a problem. Just for ****s and giggles, I used Excel 2007 and typed in "31/12/9999" (which apparently is a Friday, which I am not going to verify manually), then tried to calculate the date which is 1 day after that. All I got was "######", i.e. Excel kicked itself and didn't know how to identify this date.

Other than that it is sleep management - I endeavor to get at least 6 hours per 24. If that means skipping a feed/service in getting a 45 minute power nap on the next 1¼ hour flight, so be it.

Also, build up the sleep bank starting two days before departure.

Sitting in the QF/BA first class lounge in BKK waiting for CX flight and I am totally wasted. Can't keep my eyes open and the sips from the can of Heineken are getting smaller each time. :shock:

I have not had any further vodka and orange this trip and was happy to miss out for the rest of this trip until I realised I have a 1 little duty free bottle of Smirnoff that needs to be finished in the next week. Looks like I will be having pre prepared vodka and orange roadies, instead of beer, after each golf game next week Monday-Friday.

OTOH I could ditch Hilton and switch to PC instead (signed up for Priority Privilege and obtained PC Platinum...)

You might get a targetted offer to renew your Gold - I did last time, otherwise there is the HH Racing Fast-Track possibly still available.

I've pretty much given up on Hilton though, and switched pretty much over to PriorityClub. Points are easier to earn and burn, although the recognition of PC Plat isn't as good as HH Gold I think.

Hotels are hit and miss too, but generally HI / CP are pretty good (bar a few of them), IC's are normally great (but of course there are exceptions), HIX is basic but clean (and there are some bad ones of course too)...

I think I've saved a fortune on accom since ditching hilton.
