Yes. You will get the Jetstar booking reference on the confirmation screen after you've booked. You can use either this or the Qantas PNR on jetstar.com Manage Booking to purchase seat selection and anything else you might need for the flight.

Is Jetstar's Thai cabin crew base in BKK? If so that probably makes MEL-BKK operationally important for JQ since a large portion JQi's cabin crew are Thai based.
