5c PP is too high.... Try to find the FlightCentre prepaid visa at Coles as it is $150 for $6.95 fee so better value than the $100 for $5.95... I bought them *a lot* back when they were doing targeted $10-$20 discount for spending $100 on a shop.... created a nice loop, free money and points :)...

Of course, totally forgot about that. SQ is no good as they don't release seats to *A into Australia (except sometimes <14days)... so only way would be MNL-xPEK-MEL on CA. Can see J seats available on 11th but not 12th...(Looks like PEK-MEL doesn't fly Tuesdays)

With the KA CRK-HKG looks like an overnight would be needed in HKG... also can only see Y award seats.... You're welcome, may need to call in on that when I need some help with SQ :)

I like the alternative thinking but AFAIK AS only has a few good sweet spots that are better than AA, and then there are limits, like can't fly AU-Asia (other than HKG) with AS as far as I know where as AA you can... ?

Well no J on QF MNL-SYD... how about CX HKG-MEL on the 11th or 12th ? I can one J seat on CX163 on both days, you could make your own way to MNL and then onto HKG to connect to it to get home?

Yep can see at least 2 seats in J available on 5th May 2015, on CA178. But USDM is priced as return trip (no cheaper for one way) so you should book a return... what date do you want to return?

I doubt the average person could be bothered to sign up with and accrue miles to another OW airline, ie AA, BA etc... Need to take into account credit card spend, the average person gets hammered by QF and VA credit card offers and probably thinks that's all that exists... I think it's more...
