Seeing your photos there of the Yamanote line, I would be interested in your thoughts on the speeds at which the trains enter and leave the platforms. For me it always felt very fast, and if tried in Australia it might lead to some painful lessons for those who don't wait behind the line.

It looks like it only leads into the Club, so any kerbside entry is likely to be followed swiftly by a kerbside exit. Mind you given that security is after the lounge in MEL and with new premium security at that, I am not sure what advantage kerbside entry would bring.

For those looking forward to an even bigger extended Melbourne lounge, I thought these might be of interest. The map was in a public area, and gives a little but of insight into what awaits us. Although I suspect that the upstairs area may unfortunately not await too many of us.

I have "won" the XFA/B lottery for VA697 this Sunday. As a variant on the previous problem that goes that bit further: web check-in has now opened, but as a platinum member I cannot select any vacant seat in the Row 6 or 7 bulkheads. All 8 of these seats show as vacant.
