I was under the impression this was the norm until QF introduced points upgrades right up until boarding. Since then all QF staff travellers on Domestic are seated in Economy until T-15, at which point they can be upgraded to Business, pending available seats. My problem with Qantas Staff...

+1 Never bank on fly ahead, even with flights between SYD and MEL every 15misn in peak hour, it takes just one cancelled flight and you won't be able to get a seat.

Re: Lounge expansions... I agree with you on the food point, the same menu does not really bother me, but there's certainly a set number of options that have been rotating around the various lounges for 2 years.
