Have you had to change/cancel travel due to COVID-19 (involuntarily or voluntarily)?

Well, I've just bitten the bullet on my trip to the US next Friday - I'M GOING! I've got friends over there who I can stay with if needed, and can even go work for a mate (for free), if I get stuck there. I'm more worried about political decisions on travel than I am about the virus. Might move...

Have you had to change/cancel travel due to COVID-19 (involuntarily or voluntarily)?

I'm booked ADL-BNE-LAX on friday 20th and LAX-MEL-ADL on the 27th. At this stage, as a fit 62 year old male with no health issues, I am still going. However my wife quietly asked me this morning "Are you still going to the states next week?" Now I'm worried!!!!!!!

    Adelaide airport curfew strikes again!

“The pilot said permission had been granted before we left Melbourne but then it got revoked " This is the part that confuses me - why revoke permission AFTER take off, or is this "normal"? Or was the pilot trying to protect his rear end as it had not actually been granted and it easier to...

    Adelaide airport curfew strikes again!

https://www.fiveaa.com.au/news/adelaide-airport-turned-away-flight-melbourne-last-night-because-curfew?fbclid=IwAR38b0xlic34qziqlOQY5u789-ma6uB231uN8BA17VBoD4ONPdeJb66kSLU Seems a JQ flight was almost to Adelaide when their curfew was "revoked". Not sure which side of the story to believe, but...

    Q Flyer - good, bad???????

I've received an email from Qflyer with some good Qantas deals to the US. And, for once, the timing looks good. Am I safe using them for my bookings, as I normally do my own thing on the QF website, but I can't even get close to the deals they are offering. Their website looks great, but that...

Qantas hotels - 9 points per $ spent

We are booked to go to Singapore in February next year and I wanted to treat the Flygirl to a great experience. We stayed at Royal Plaza on Scotts when we came back from London last year, and my wife loved it. So this time I planned to book a club room on the top floor and surprise her! I've...

    Aviation museums

Not quite an aviation museum, but a follow up to my flight on "909" - the B17 of the Collings Foundation. I guess lots of things can happen to an old plane, but this old girl flew her last flight last week, when she crashed at Bradley Airport. At this stage both pilots confirmed dead, plus 5...

PM to USA on what aircraft?

I know it's not Shark 1 (!) but here is a pic of a RAAF C17 refueling from a USAF KC10 refueler. I would assume the Airbus can take and deliver fuel the same. This KC10 was out of Travis Air Force base in California, outside San Francisco.

    Immigration formalities at SFO

We did SFO about 4 weeks ago, and it was a disaster! Line was over 500M long and slow moving. we were well over 2 hours and missed our connection down to LAX. AA were fine, and sorted it out without any hassles, but I was very disappointed at SFO after previous quick experiences. And as a side...

My Dad was a Lancaster pilot in WW2 in 149 Squadron, and I figured this was as close as I'd probably get to flying in a Lanc (although I have crawled though several on the ground). I took his cap badge with me on the flight for memory's sake. When he did talk about the bombing flights over...

Over the wireless operator position is a large sliding panel in the top of the aircraft. As the weather was OK, the panel was open. I've never stuck my head out into a 450kt slipstream, but I now know what it feels like!!!!!!!! However it did afford some great photographic opportunities from the...

    Aviation museums

Aggie57 - yes it was The Collings Foundation, and yes, it was John Wayne! It was interesting watching a B25, B24 and B17 taking off and landing amongst the 737's, A320's, and others. As promised here are some photos. What you don't get with them are the sounds of 4 big radials winding up for...
