UK Trip - St Henri - Do I take it, or buy it there!!!

I wasn't going to put it in the baggage, but I think I'll now do it that way. There are too many variables in carrying it, and transiting in Dubai. A Bottle pack, and a few plastic bags and wrapped in clothes will be the go. Like I saod previously, I'm not worried one way or another about the...

Is this survey for real from Qantas?

Looks legit. Email address almost looks legit. But asking for passwords, credit card details etc seems wrong. I'll pass on this one for my $95!!! Qantas - Member Satisfaction Survey

Duty free grog - am I OK transiting through Dubai?

Flying QF1 in 3 weeks SYD - LHR. Will be taking some wine with me to give to someone, and will get in at SYD duty free. Not worried about saving money/duty free rip off etc etc. As we transit through Dubai, will I have to take the wine off the aircraft and then bring it back on? Are there any...

UK Trip - St Henri - Do I take it, or buy it there!!!

I've found it duty free at syd airport and as I'm not out to save money, I am thinking this is a good option and I know I've got it and it won't get broken. The vintage is not important, it's the wine that matters!!!! Am I safe to assume that I will be taking it off the plane and then back on...

UK Trip - St Henri - Do I take it, or buy it there!!!

I'm off to the UK on QF1 in 3 weeks and staying with a mate I haven't seen for 35 years. I want to give him a bottle of St Henri (it's a long story!) and I'm trying to figure do I buy local and pack in suitcase, buy duty free (if its available) or buy in the UK. I'm not fussed with saving $10...

Stuck in an overseas airport - what to do, how to contact anyone?

I've been reading the discussions in the Delays and Cancellations forum about the challenges faced by passengers in Dubai last week, and it got me to thinking (not always a good thing!!) Having been stuck in LAX, SFO, MEL and SYD whilst with Qantas, I've never had a big issue. Reasons have been...

    Ticketing name not matching passport

I echo DC3. I've done too many trip to asia and the USA and NEVER use my middle name on the booking with QF or Virgin, yet it is obviously on my passport. I've never had an issue anywhere (check in, passport control, duty free, boarding, homeland security). Relax and enjoy your flight.

    Transit in Dubai on QF1

It might not have been Dubai, but it was somewhere "in the gulf" All I remember is hot air through the front door which was where we were able to stand, but we could not get off. Thanks for the feedback everyone, looks like a leg stretch is about it, other than hitting the lounge. I might hope...

    Transit in Dubai on QF1

25 years ago I transited through Dubai on Qantas, and the closest I got to Dubai was looking out the front door of the plane while I got some fresh air!!!! In Feb, I'm on QF1 and was wondering what the go is for transit in Dubai. I'm guessing we get off and can stretch legs for and hour or so...

How many photos have you kept?

Hmm. I've just done a count in windows and the hard drive with the photos comes up at 177,327!!! There might be some duplication, but not much. I love photography, and those numbers include over 5000 35mm slides which I've scanned and added to the digital files.

Good sim card/plan in the UK.

Thanks all - that gives me some good stuff to work on.

Good sim card/plan in the UK.

OK, so I have my US phone organised the way I want it with a plan with T Mobile. It gives me pretty much unlimited calls (local and back to Oz) and downloads when I'm there, which is about every 6 to 8 weeks. In Feb, I'm off to the UK for 10days and I'm looking for something similar for that...

    Earthquake off Japan 22 November

I feel a head cold coming on - I'm sure it's because of climate change! After all, isn't everything due to climate change?

Excuse me, this is NOT your seat.

Sorry, I think that was a bit of jetlag - he was in an animated discussion in Brisbane at customs. My bad.

Excuse me, this is NOT your seat.

It was QF16, the LAX-BNE service.

Excuse me, this is NOT your seat.

The interesting thing is that it didn't really upset me. I have not mentioned the nationality of the person in question, but lets just say that he could have worked in a call center in India. His whole attitude just made me more determined to enjoy my time on board, and whilst it was a Y seat...

First experience with QF "Priority" baggage.

re: First experience with QF "Priority" baggage. Welcome to the land of Gold! Regretably you will find prioity baggage is hit or miss! Yesterday, one of bags came off 2nd, the other was about 52nd! Other times they have been 1 and 2. There is little to no logic in how it woks.

Excuse me, this is NOT your seat.

As most of us know, one of the joys of a frequent flyer program is to be able to preselect your seat before you even get to the airport. So it is an odd feeling when you are sitting in your selected isle seat and a guy comes up and says he ordered an isle seat and my seat was his! I didn't even...
