Article: Reward Seat Release Patterns Have Changed Fundamentally

It looks like there may have been a mini Classic Reward drop. Seats in Y are now available in Aug and Oct using QF27 SYD SCL. Unfortunately no PE but maybe a chance to upgrade later. But at least now I can stop stressing about how I am getting to South America! I'm returning via the USA so...

USA Entry - CBP Mobile Passport control app [MPC]

I've been using MPC for the last couple years with my US passport and even at LAX coming off the QF flight I breeze through in 5 minutes. It doesn't seem to have caught on much in the US as the lines are short. Most frequent US travelers seem to prefer Global Entry which is subsidized on US...

    Cook Islands tips & recommendations

Have a look at AirBnB. Most of the rentals are purposely built for tourists by the locals on land they have had in their family for generations. They range from budget to luxury and are good value if you want the option of self-catering.

Article: Reward Seat Release Patterns Have Changed Fundamentally

Getting to SCL directly from Australia is even worse either through SYD on QF 27 or the LATAM flights via MEL or AKL. Don't let the display fool you, what they are showing are connections via LAX. None of these have QF 27. Although I would like PE or J, I would be happy with just ONE award...

Well I'm stumped. Classic Reward, multicity, release dates, I must be doing it wrong.

The airlines just aren't releasing award seats which is extremely frustrating after you have been saving for months. I can't find anything on QF/LA to SCL from SYD, MEL, BNE or AKL in October, not even in Y although I would prefer PE or J. I have been monitoring this route for a few months...

    Flybuys Targeted Bonus Promotions

Mine - Spend $90 for 4 weeks/10K (up from $60) Husband - Spend $70 for 4 weeks/10K (he wasn't targeted last time) We can do them both this time but if mine goes up anymore I will have to scale back until they drop it. I had a few concurrent 2000 points for $90-100 spend last time and I went...

Up to 35,000 Velocity points for switching to AGL Energy

My 3000 points for existing customer on electricity came through within a few days. My gas was ported over from Origin last week and final bill issued and welcome letter from AGL received. Next bill (first with AGL) is expected in 95-100ish days, I guess it's too soon to expect the points...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

What all codes as 5% categories for the Ink Cash in Australia? So far I have confirmed Officeworks and Vodafone as 5%. I put $10 on Foxtel as an experiment. What else is there?

Paying eco-lodge in Brazil bank transfer options

There is an eco-lodge in Brazil that only takes bank transfer and cash. They need 1/3 to make the booking. I don't normally use this form of payment but in this region there are no other options and they aren't on Booking.com or similar. I would prefer to use a points earning card to fund it...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I think it depends on your relationship with Chase. A dual citizen with SSN and over 15 years of spotless history with Chase will have an easier time than a brand new customer. If you are planning to visit the States, it could help to visit a branch, show your passport and get them to add...

    Article: Emirates fifth-freedom routes

I flew AKL-BNE in F back in 2018 on my birthday. I maximized it well, took a shower, had a few glasses of champagne and even talked them out of an amenity kit (birthday gift)! I was offering to pay for it and they said I could just have it. Back in those days the surcharges weren't so bad.

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I used to do it with US cards back in the days of Bluebirds and Vanilla GCs bought at pharmacies. Vanilla GCs could be loaded to the Bluebird which was a prepaid card that could be transferred to a bank account. But I needed to be visiting the US in person to buy the Vanilla GCs. This was...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Has anyone ever been able to use a prepaid Visa or MC prepaid gift card to fund a Wise transfer to the US to pay your cards? I tried with a Visa Activ from Officeworks (5x on Ink Cash) but it failed at "verified by Visa". Just wondering if there was a word-around?

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I am in a somewhat different situation from most people here. I was born a US citizen and have a long history with Chase. Others on here have developed a history with Chase over time. I am not sure if they will send the first card overseas or not. But once you are well established with them...

    Has flying J ruined you?

It's more the ease of booking J class awards back in the good old days when you jumped on them at midnight on release date for the particular airline. Nowadays, I rarely even SEE a J class award for someplace I want to go, let alone actually flying in it! But I do miss the easy access to...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

I’m a dual US/Australian citizen. I had the Aussie address in my profile since 2009-ish and did it in person at a branch. On my last visit to the US I went into a branch to show my US passport (renewed last year) and have it added to my profile in case there is ever fraud they can identify me...

    Strategy to obtain US Amex

Great card if you can do the spend. For me, $12,000 AUD in 3 months would be impossible and that card has an annual fee and no interest free period. Having 6 months to spend $9000 AUD with a car deposit included is much easier. I hope they offer these terms for the other Ink cards in the future.
