Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A My script found 15 airports in one country that are coded as Oceania. Script still running, checking the rest of the world's airports :D

Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A One possible complication is if the transit country does some sort of advance passenger information screening. E.g. if the country you're dropping out at does not expect you to clear immigration there. Dropping out at international-to-domestic...

Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A Any idea if I'll have trouble skipping the last sector of a one-way ticket, in particular these LM tickets? (AAA-BBB-CCC-DDD but getting off at CCC)

Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A I just booked my first LM redemption on SQ flight with this offer (it took me a year to find out about this, oh well...). How long does it take for the SQ booking get ticketed usually nowadays?

Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A Apparently the miles+money is now capped to 1.5 cent per miles, so it's never going to be cheaper to do miles+money redemption. The only advantage that gives is that you use less miles (remember the 150k buy limit) and perhaps it's more useful...

Should I swap my JASA to Europe with USDM/LM redemption?

Availability so far seems good for TG F from SYD, and even better on J class. The other alternative is to fly to SIN (or other Asian hubs) first, and get the F redemption from there. Also, it seems that I won't be requalifying WP next year, so I won't be able to access the F lounge on the day...

Should I swap my JASA to Europe with USDM/LM redemption?

I'm planning for a holiday trip to Europe, and so far has only booked a JASA-M (Marginal, pre-new-website) one way SYD-MEL-DXB-LHR for April 2014 for around 128k points + ~700$. Now, in the light of the latest buy miles offer from USDM or Lifemiles, I figure that I can actually get the same...

Q Bag Tag - do you Carry on?

I sometimes put my PS tag on my carry-on, pretending like a DYKWIA-wanna-be, and liberally use the PB lanes, F lounge, F check-in, etc. I also dress casually like a college student. You know, just to see the weird WDYTYA look (who-do-you-think-you-are) from the other DYKWIAs or staff.

    EY Gold Status match

I just got that email as well. Applied on June 4th. Matched from QF WP. I guess better late than never  The email mentioned that the card has been dispatched. I guess that means I can use it to access VA lounges now

Qantas SYD&MEL to SIN $510 ret ($410 through .br site)

Did you change the sales city and currency?

Qantas SYD&MEL to SIN $510 ret ($410 through .br site)

I found that if you book incl. hotels (i.e. no expedia fee) the price is the same, if not better than other places including decolar.

Qantas SYD&MEL to SIN $510 ret ($410 through .br site)

I thought decolar requires the CPF number when making the booking?

Qantas SYD&MEL to SIN $510 ret ($410 through .br site)

I remember not having the printout in Hyderabad, where they asked for ticket / itinerary to get into the check-in area. The security guard had a printout of everyone scheduled to depart in the flights that night, and was able to verify that I was on the list and let me in. Also, all airports in...

Missing e-tickets (again) from Expedia (.br) for QF flights

I did booking on .br a couple of times, never received an e-Ticket of any sort (other than the 018- number that is viewable on expedia site), never had any problem at check-in either.

Asiana 777 hull loss at SFO

People tend to become irrational on emergency / panic situations. I would suggest a different, more mechanical solution to this problem: make the overhead bin automatically lock on impact (or something) so people can't take out the carry-on even if they want to. -GN

Qantas SYD&MEL to SIN $510 ret ($410 through .br site)

You can get the O fare with Expedia for ~370AUD.

    But the super-cheap fare is non-upgradable... :(

Qantas SYD&MEL to SIN $510 ret ($410 through .br site)

Last couple of times I flew this route, the load was really light on a 747. According to the crew, "can fit in a 737".
