Economy X [Domestic free for Platinum] - May 2017

It's been able to detect status for a long time, as evidenced by differences in seat availability between status levels. But yes hopefully the seat charges do not materialise...

Economy X [Domestic free for Platinum] - May 2017

See earlier: So it seems you're fine. Perhaps separate bookings will require some discretion, but this is already the case for allocating non-platinums to row 3 before check-in.

Virgin Australia Golds lose LAX lounge access

It is true for the shortest legs on cheapest fares, now that they only earn 5 SCs on VA. That's 100 flights to reach gold or 80 to retain, vs 70 or 60 flights on QF. Considering this includes SYD to MEL or BNE, that's a lot of people affected by the lower earn rate.

    Velocity Live

Pre-sale access to the Brazil-Uruguay match seemed like a decent offer.

    Have VA 'enhanced' Agoda? [Yes!]

Re: Have VA 'enhanced' Agoda? Maybe someone at Agoda noticed that they'd been paying both the Velocity points and their old Agoda rewards points on the same bookings, which seemed erroneously generous.

    Hawaiian Airlines to Honolulu

As a Velocity Gold in economy, in HNL you get access to the Delta lounge on a HA ticket (assuming nothing has changed in the last year) - i.e., don't need to be on a codeshare. As I understand it, the reason for no NZ lounge access in BNE is that it's closed for the late evening departure (I...

Best options for VA plat to Frankfurt

SQ on an SQ ticket allows you to choose seats, and will probably earn SCs at the flexi rate if you're booking for next month (check the fare class). Not sure about upgrade options though.

Bonus 1,000 velocity points via Auspost mailbox.

Will the emails still be sent directly in parallel? Not particularly convenient to have to log in to AusPost to read an email. For snail mail, sure I'm all for it (paper bills don't send timely reminders), but for something that's already digital and doesn't require any action? Hmm. Still, 1000...

Uber Drops Fares by 20% in Brisbane

Thanks. Fairly cheap but not a huge bargain then eh.

Uber Drops Fares by 20% in Brisbane

What's the fare between the CBD and the domestic terminal assuming no tolls and no traffic? And are there typically ubers nearby for 11pm arrivals?

VA/Agoda and FX fees on AUD purchases

Yep, this sort of thing happens with many sites. Highly annoying. fwiw Amex-issued cards don't charge the fee.

HKG or SIN - Your Preference?

HKG loses some points for the extra liquids screening prior to boarding Australian flights (ruling out duty-free purchases, unlike SIN).

    Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

Anyone tried using a gift card with a 2017 expiry? The form only goes up to 2016... (and helpfully still allows 2013, 2014, and 2015!)

VA cuts Brisbane Premium Entry opening hours

Re: VA wishlist. Time for..... Agreed. I don't bother using it because there's never a queue at security when I fly. Conversely, in Sydney I use the premium entry every time.

Flight to Kona, Hawaii with Hawaiian or VA

I expect it will have two different flight numbers so should earn as two legs.
