    New booking engine is up

Yep disappointing for me too. I quite liked that 14-day-in-advance seat selection meant I didn't really need to do online check in anywhere near T-24 h, oh well back to sniping what's left as soon as it opens...

    New booking engine is up

Interestingly here the actual price can come out slightly lower. Looking at BNE-SYD where the one-way is listed as $109, as a return booking the two legs are $110.90 and $110.89 but the eventual total is $218...so why not just show $109 each way?! I guess the imprecision is needed to accommodate...

    New booking engine is up

I can log into Velocity right now, though it seems that my number of SCs earned for maintaining status is currently 0 instead of 400...

    New booking engine is up

The prices 'are estimates' thing is strange, as is the fact that they're shown differently for one-ways and returns. Why can't the price below the radio button be the actual total?

Virgin Mobile Credit to be discountinued from Jan 6th

It doesn't state it definitively, but I'm inclined to think that "We will be taking final bookings for this offer on 6 January 2013" implies it refers to the booking date rather than the flight date. I was always concerned when the Virgin Mobile site said "We normally give you 5% bonus mobile...

Virgin Mobile Credit to be discountinued from Jan 6th

I too am very disappointed by this. Probably sufficiently disappointed to leave Virgin Mobile when my contract ends. I've quite liked not needing to pay phone bills...

"Do you know how tall I am ?"

Perhaps a more complicated example: the window seats at the back of a 747 where the seating is only two abreast and there's large gap between the seat and the window. People often put their bag/blanket/pillow/everything into the gap, which then means 'your' space under the seat in front is...

    New fare structure from 13/01/2013

I hope priority baggage still being available for Golds and Plats on Saver Lite fares means that this overrides not being able to add a bag to those fares, and that it remains free..

Virgin Mobile Credit to be discountinued from Jan 6th

Re: Fly Virgin Australia and get 10% of ticket value on Virgin Mobile Credit The "contact us" page on their site links to a form that lets you ask a question and choose a category for that question. No category is glaringly obvious as the 'best' one (maybe Service Functions & Features ->...

Virgin Mobile Credit to be discountinued from Jan 6th

Re: Fly Virgin Australia and get 10% of ticket value on Virgin Mobile Credit Most of mine have worked fine without any intervention so I haven't had the need to contact them. Two haven't though (one where I wasn't traveling - not sure whether they'll pay that one), so I guess I better hassle...

Well this is highly displeasing, received this in an email from Virgin Mobile:

Taken For Granted - Items/Food You Can't Get In the USA

Interestingly in the US (and various other countries) paracetamol is known as acetaminophen - two different abbreviations of a much longer chemical name. So I suppose that could lead to additional confusion when trying to ask for panadol.

    Seat selection based on status

I assume it's one of the many things 'to be resolved when the computer systems are overhauled next year'.

    Seat selection based on status

I mean was the flight booked when the OP was still silver and has since then moved up to gold - iirc baggage allowances and allowable seat ranges don't update on existing bookings unless you contact them or (maybe) take the first flight in the itinerary.

    Seat selection based on status

Was the flight booked before you made gold? If so the status might not have updated on the booking, leaving you with only the lower-status options.

    Transiting thru LAX

I don't know whether it's possible on AC, but for a UA domestic flight connecting to QF on the same booking, it's possible to check baggage all the way through.

    Virgin Fly Ahead

Yep assuming there are seats. Actually in my experience even different bookings on the same flight was fine for both of us to fly ahead.
