As the booking has QFF number in there, it does not show directly in aa.com. You'll need to look it up on aa.com ("Find trips") using your QF PNR.

I think the idea was that you're making a rewards booking as if it was for someone else, and you then put in your details plus QFF number.

Is this using the AmEx card itself or using the priority pass that comes with the AmEx? I can see priority pass allows access to plaza premium at KILA 1 (this should be irrespective of how you got the priority pass).

Late reply; hopefully it's still useful to you. Yes, you definitely can change it in the middle of a trip. On multiple occasions, I have done exactly as you described: checkin and get to the lounge based on status with QF, and then have it changed to another airline for earn. Ask in the lounge.

I wanted to do exactly the same a couple of weeks ago (adding a card to Apple Pay before the card arrived). Unfortunately Apple Wallet needs to capture a screenshot of the card and you need to enter the CVV (which you will not have till you receive the physical card).

Airlines in the past few years have intentionally started making this process a pain so as the disincentivise people maxing and matching flights (they match prefer to be your one-stop shop so as to monetise whatever data...

I see. Your calculation is not 'cost of points', it is your 'cost of paying your bill'. You end up being about $400 out of pocket for paying a $100,000 bill. You will not have any 'points' left as you would have liquidated the points to reduce your out of pocket cash.

I cannot quite follow how you got to the figure of 0.4%? Based on your example: "1.5% surcharge, ... ($100,000 ... spend is $1,500 of fee; 225,000 MR points...". If you transfer the MR points at 2:1, it equates to 112,500 points. That is about 1.1% for 'cost of points'.

SQ web site is not the best option to search for *alliance availability. Use United or other tools to search for availability and then call SQ to book. You might, for example, find availability to Paris via Frankfurt (e.g. Air India to FR and then Lufthansa to Paris; all on the same SQ award...
