They did unauthorised reassessments number 4 and 5 when all I asked for was a call back from credit management! Apparently they don't have verbal conversations with anyone externally nor internally! WTF? I have now gone above supervisor to manager level and have lodged a detailed complaint with clear outcomes requested: remove the unauthorised unnecessary credit checks and approve the damn Signature card at the minimum credit limit. I was supposed to receive a call back yesterday...yeah, that didn't happen.

I wish you the best of luck there. I had the same issue with Telstra regarding additional credit checks done when I was having my assessment reviewed (and hence had only applied for credit once). Took 8 months, two complaints, Ombudsman complaint and then a Veda investigation to resolve.

I can't imagine Citi would be any better.

Just applied for this.. had a whole bunch of reminder emails telling me to send them a bit more details for ID confirmation after a conditional approval - I never ended up sending them through, and a couple of days later received an email saying that my application had been approved.

Fast forward today, they've sent me a platinum card :( now i technically don't quite make the cut-off for salary (74k..) but really only applied for the sake of signature. Tried calling up and asking them what was up but the man on the phone insisted that I was only approved for the platinum and not the signature - and that I would need to file a letter for re-assessment if i was keen on the signature card.

any idea on what my chances would be? or would i be better off trying to apply again online with the 15k credit limit trick you guys seem to have working? seems like the reassessments are a real big hassle and potential future credit issue ><

Read my posts... Good luck!

Whats the 15k credit limit trick - applying for Platinum and asking for 15k credit?

Whats the 15k credit limit trick - applying for Platinum and asking for 15k credit?

If you ask for a credit limit of 15k which is the minimum credit limit for signature. You pretty much exclude yourself from a possible downgrade to the platinum. If your application is approced then automatic signature. If your not approved for the 15k then its no card at all. So basically the trick is not a trick at all, it just assures that you only get a signature card if your application is approved. Asking for a balance transfer of 80% of $15k may also improve your chances...

Didn't work for me. I asked for $50K and they gave me $10.5K initially.

Hence the balance transfer suggestion to push your application into the required credit limit direction.... I had in the past been refused anything from citi but now have the signature card from the tips I posted above

YMMV

I was BTing $24K :S

I have a love hate relationship with this card.

I love that its free,
I love the fact that i utilised all of my priority pass visits in the US last month,
I love 1 velocity point per $1 spend (now my shiny new program of choice)
I love that the pin number can be changed online (which i never could on my outgoing JQ platinum mastercard)

.... but I hate the physical card itself, all the silver has already worn from all raised numbers / letters which makes the card almost impossible to read (with the stupid cityscape image).

Anyone else's card already looking decidedly 2nd hand?.... mine is 5 months old.

First world problems...

Yeah. I have to get the light at the right angle tot he card to be able to read the number.

Hoping after a few more months I'll have entered it into things so often that I'll remember it like my old card.

My silver wore off, and the card is now delaminating. Mine is about a year old though.

I like the image, it's the Sydney skyline. I'm having no trouble reading the number either.

My preference is to maintain a few cards with modest limits...so I am happy with the $15k on my Signature.

This lets me play the field to my advantage when a good offer comes along.. On this occasion I decided to cancel a 28 Degrees card and replace it with a no fee Signature... Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Now to look for another card that has some bonus QFF points.....

For those that upgraded from an existing card (I.e Platinum in my case), did you...
a) just apply on the website, or call?
b) go through the identification stuff again?
c) retain your existing points balance?

Thanks!

I upgraded from a platinum card.

a) just called up and requested the deal
b) no ID needed for me. I also had a savings account & Citi Plus transaction account though
c) kept all existing points no issues

As an added bonus they didn't even credit check me. I guess me putting serious amounts on the platinum card helped...

Any luck yet Beta4Me? My complaint has been open since December. It's endless "human errors" (their words).

I wrote the name and extension of the girl that was handling my latest complaint who I have never heard from again (I was supposed to hear Friday the week before last). But I can't find the bloody note to chase her up. Grrr!
