I wrote the name and extension of the girl that was handling my latest complaint who I have never heard from again (I was supposed to hear Friday the week before last). But I can't find the bloody note to chase her up. Grrr!

Google for Citibank complaints number, it's a 02 8225 number for Aus based complaints managers. Not that they're useful, but might help you find yours.

It's coming up to another two weeks of "looking into it" for me. They seem to avoid directness by blabbing on. So hard to engage in conversation.

I think Citi may have a paper free office each night so there may be a giant shredder disposing all of your first, second and even third sets of documents. Don't panic they do get to lose quite a bit of stuff so they really are not treating you in a special way.

I'm starting to think if they treat me this badly, which really is special considering just how bad it has been, they must really like me...

When I was sent to the US for a few years with work and my employer had a relationship with Citibank to supposedly make my banking set-up on arrival in the US easy, they liked me so much that I eventually went to HSBC, who must really hate me because they set me up with everything I needed on my first visit.

I have breached my "no Sh*tibank" rule for this card, now that I have a fee free card for life from them they would have to work really hard to screw things up. I wouldn't be surprised if they did though.

I think most people are praying that once they have waded through the 10ft of **** to get this card that they never ever have to deal with a citibank employee for the rest of their lives

Citibank US is really fantastic so if you qualify for a card there you would really notice the difference.

I upgraded from a platinum card.

a) just called up and requested the deal
b) no ID needed for me. I also had a savings account & Citi Plus transaction account though
c) kept all existing points no issues

As an added bonus they didn't even credit check me. I guess me putting serious amounts on the platinum card helped...

Same here. I had a FFL Platinum with a $10k limit so asked to reduce the $50k limit to $45k, increase the Platinum to $15k and then upgrade to the Signature. Just one call and no other questions or paperwork. Points were transferred to new card and I was told that I can transfer these to my Select stockpile when I want to!

Since the offer was extended, I decided take this card on.

Applied Friday, sent documents in the following Monday, approved Wednesday and received the card on the same Friday (week after application). 7 days in total, I count myself very lucky after reading through some posts on this thread. Hope the good run with citi continues on!

Thought I'd share my calculations about Fee Free Citi Sig vs Citi Select.

After about $275k/year you'd be better off paying the $700 annual fee for the Select. (This is based on using the first 137k points from select to redeem for $700 of prepaid Visa/MC to null the annual fee).

My figure comes out at $210K on the basis that I'd pay 1c for acquisition so that's 70,000c and the marginal points increase is 0.33 per dollar.

I rang up and had my existing citibank cc changed to signature with no annual fee for life. It was pretty simple.

My experience with this card: I applied using the link provided in this forum, going for the Signature card and following the advice given here regarding specifying a credit limit of 15K. This was two weeks ago and the next screen showed a "conditional approval", along with the promise of a follow-up email the next day. Said screen also specified which documents were required, both for identification and income purposes.

The email never came so I uploaded documents the following Monday. On Tuesday, the promised email came through with pretty much exactly the same content that the screen following my application showed. The same email arrived the next day before someone called my "payroll department" - speaking to my wife, (it is only her and me) according to my accountant, technically I am not self-employed. :)

They confirmed employment with my wife, however they wanted to speak to me as well and called a few minutes later. We had a bit of an argument as she insisted on getting a copy of my tax return and I told her a couple of times that surely the copy of my most recent notice of assessment was at least as good. Finally, she accepted that and ended the call by saying she will pass on the application to the decision-making department and that I would hear from them. The next day, I had an email in my inbox, congratulating me for successfully applying for the Signature card so overall, the entire process took eight days. The card arrived yesterday so eleven days after applying, which I think is pretty good and definitely better than expected, after reading a few comments here.

Thanks to everyone for your help, guys, hopefully this might help someone in their applications!

Slightly off topic

I had a phone call from Citibank Fraud Section asking me about some suspicious transactions (all was genuine).

I nearly did not reply as it showed '+60 xx_ xx_ xx_' which gave me the creeps thinking about Nigerian scam etc...

So, if you have a Citibank Signature and the phone call originates from Malaysia (+60), then please pick it up.

I guess they may suspend the card if they could not contact you.

Also relevant to people on this forum is that their fraud detection can be particularly touchy when purchasing FF points. Since that and other travel expenses are the main thing we use our Signature cards for, it's proving quite a irritation. They held LifeMiles points purchases for both me and MrGlider (separate cards) until they'd rung and confirmed they were legit. Same thing with points.com/USDM.

We also had both of our cards freeze when they switched over to the new website (don't ask me how that was related), so we had a big inconvenience when trying to book some last-minute CX flights.

It's good that they're on the ball about suspicious transactions but this can be a real pain in the rear if it happens o/s as we don't use our Aussie sim cards when travelling so can't be contacted by them. Which is another enormous pain if you want to use online banking with their one-time-pin sms'ed to your normal number.

They'll get used to it pretty quickly. My parents are in the US/Canada and at the same time as using their card there, I was buying them lifemiles from here and booking hotels in Europe on the same card. It's all about your personal profile.

I like that they are onto it.
Unlike bloody Macquarie (Jetstar) who are now investigating a month of fraudulent charges for me.
I just ring Citi and let them know if I'm traveling or making heaps of weird internet purchases - and all is fine)

We never ring them. I worry that if I call to tell them I'm away, they'll stuff something up and my new card will be posted to Paraguay.

Yes the OTP via app is great for when you are travelling without AU sim. I didn't have any issues when calling them and telling them I would be in USA/canada for extended periods of 3 months+ , they never blocked my card at all and it got a workout online/in the stores.
