$0 Annual Fee for Life on Citi Platinum/Signature CC Complimentary Insurance

Do I bother applying purely for the free PP which is mainly useless in Australia and im QF SG? Also already earning 1:1 on non-Amex.

PP question. Can you take a guest in or just single admission?

Just got my newly minted card in the mail. I also (wrongly) thought I'd get complimentary Priority Pass. Whilst one does indeed get complimentary "membership" to Priority Pass, Citi Signature only provides 2 complementary lounge visits per annum. Beyond the 2 visits, each visit sets one back US$27. So if you visit once with one guest, there goes your annual complementary access.

I think I'll use the card for now, but will upgrade to a Select if they ever run a fee-free promotion for that card.

nope, no guests, you'll be charged $27 for even the first one.

as would anyone, of course, but it seems unlikely - it's their only "premium" card left. perhaps in a few years when it's been supplanted with a Visa Infinite card or something.

I stand corrected; but the point is that the complementary PP is not as lucrative as it initially sounded (at least to me).

Sure; I'm happy to settle for 60k-80k signup bonus and 1/2 annual fee ;-)

Applied online yesterday. Got two different emails requesting documents, one with an option to provide via email, one with fax / post options only. This AM got a call letting me know they had just verified employment details with my employer, and checking the info I'd provided. Ten minutes later an email arrived saying "I am delighted to advise that your new SIGNATURE CARD application has been approved..."

Around 24 hours for the whole process, never been a Citi Customer before.

The run around is quite something. Been a credit card customer for 20 years and they've made me jump through all the hoops to get the fee free version of the card. I love the way the emails all ask for slightly different things. Nothing extra has turned up in either of my online banking accounts....
do you already have a citibank CC as I see that only new customers should apply/ I have a platinum and though I have had the fee waived the last 2 yrs.
I want to get the fee free for life.
I just called and they said they would send off the application but would not transfer over the pts that are in the account now
ridiculous!!
so I have to either wait till I get to 20k( yes they changed me from a citibusiness to the plat card and upped the anti for the conversion rate from 15k to 20k per 10k pts.)
to move them over or apply for a new card
so I did the latter
doubt Ill get it as I already have 2 cards!
these people have very funny ideas!! why not make everyones cards free .

Strange that, cause first thing I ask was are the points from my Platinum card transferable to the Signature and was told Yes

Backlog is clearing...final approval today following conditional approval about 8 days ago

Approved 7 days after I applied with three phone calls in the meantime to verify/clarify things for them.

Today received a mailing from Citibank with a glossy brochure letting me know all about my new card and benefits, effectively restating what's already on the website. Interestingly no card, that's apparently on its way seperately.

Crazy limit approved. Anyone know how to get it decreased, or do I have to call? Even the minimum is a bit high for my needs.

I have an existing Plat and will try to get the Signature as 1:1 for a Visa card for QF is good for those places that do not take Amex and/or surcharge.

Currently have a credit limit of 20K with about 10K oustanding

Thinking I should pay off the $10K and then apply ?

Thoughts ?

Just looking at their online thing and it only has these options:

Credit Card Services

  • Increase My Credit Limit
  • Upgrade My Credit Card
  • Request a Balance Transfer
  • Add an Additional Cardholder
  • Protect My Credit Card repayments with CardProtect Insurance
  • Setup & Manage My Payment Options

guess you have to call

Just apply one for Signature and keep the Platinum (don't pay the 10K off). That's what I have done. They don't even check my salary ......

Just called up as an existing Citi Visa Signature cardholder, and after some waiting I was told they had put my request in to move to the 'fee free for life' Signature account, and would confirm in writing in the next 7-10 days. I'm confident it will happen, but it's a slightly different experience to others (who appear to have been told on the spot?), so just sharing for that reason. My annual fees are not usually billed until February, so not worried for the moment.

Gave citi a quick call earlier this afternoon and they confirmed this has been done. Fee free for life! :) Been with them since '05, and they've got a fair bit out of me since then, though.

I think you can't go lower than the minimum credit limit. Cyincor you receive your card already? Hopefully mine is in my letterbox when I get home

Minimum is not an issue. Not sure if card is there, I logged in as I was curious. Enough to buy a couple of fords with limit leftover is not something I want weighing down my credit score...

Credit score wise They can't actually see How high your credit limit is.

How can you login and see? I want emailed anything except that's it's approved and to wait for the package to arrive.

Couple of Ford's... Lol you should have asked for a free select instead. ;)

outstanding for the month or that you're paying interest on? if paying interest, any rewards card is a bad idea.

Just remember that Citi asks for your total credit limit (or debt, which is higher) and to exclude the limits of cards you intend to close when you get the new card. Hypothetically, you could be intending to close all your other cards...and then reconsider ;)
