I think It's time that a few people contact the moderators to hose down this sort of hysteria :!:
You called straitman . Actually, I think the level of personal attacks has decreased (apart from the minor altercation yesterday). It hasn't needed any of us to actually step in...yet

I think there is just so much mis-information going around (and people jump on the wagon and ride for all it's worth) that it's farcical.

Like most level headed people here, I'm going to wait until I get clarification from Amex. I don't care how it comes (internet, email, snail mail) and to a lesser degree, I don't care when it comes. I'd imagine that at the end of February 2009 (that's about 10 weeks after the end of the promotion) I'll have an idea about Amex's position and then I'll be able to go and present my facts to them if I feel aggrieved. Until then, there's been a lot of hyperbole in this thread and it's doing my head in :-|.

Until then, I'm going to be using my Amex (no real change there, it's my card of choice). 9 transactions down for October, plenty more to come.

Anyway after involving the commission, mr points and bonuses that were recovered by amex were returned. Has anyone with clawed back points got them back into the ff account?

Has anyone actually had points clawed back from a FF partner after having received a bonus and transferred points out to the partner? I don't recall any actual examples of this.

I transferred points out and have had no issues.

Just again thinking through this absurdity. If I had redeemed for a victa mower ;) - what would Amex have done? Asked me to post it back to them? Would I then complain to Victa or Amex? In fact let's expand this completely ridiculous extrapolation of responsibilities.

I can redeem points for Panasonic TVs under the MR program. Given the lack of bonuses posting I might not be able to claim the TV before Xmas thus when friends and family come round I will be unable to make them jealous with my enormous new device. Do I complain to Panasonic or Amex?

I completely missed that moderation - should pay attention to how my posts get reviewed ;)

The Permit Numbers and Amex as the Promoter appear in "Subject to the terms and conditions of the Membership Rewards program. The redemption of points will be administered solely by American Express and will take 1 business day to transfer. Competition commences 9/07/2008 at 00:01 (AEST) and closes 30/09/2008 at 23.59 (AEST). Authorised under NSW Permit No. LTPS/08/05912, VIC Permit No. 08/2691, A.C.T. Permit No. TP 08/02481, SA T08/2538. The Promoter is American Express Australia Limited (ABN 92 108 952 085) ® Registered Trademark of American Express Company."

as mentioned this has nothing to do with any of the three promotions currently running. But I'm curious to know what you are actually going on about. As i've seen no threads on this promo anywhere?

<redacted Quote>

Here is a link to the promo's T&C's of the permit referred to by vet. American Express

What has this got to do with the promotion(s) being discussed in this thread? Try to explain the link between the two, as I don't see any.

I do not have a law degree. Out of interest as you show your location as "squaw valley usa" - should we assume that you gained your law degree in an Australian institution?

I have no doubt about the accuracy of the permit numbers. I just can not see how there is a connection to the lottery and this promo.

Could also clarify what bonuses you have earned as a result of your calling the "commission". Can we assume that the commission refers to the ACCC? Given the lack of information are we to assume that you called the ACCC and somehow they either forced Amex to give you bonuses related to this promo or cajoled them into it?

If the ACCC are enforcing the original T&Cs that is great and I will call them tomorrow. I am just amazed that the ACCC has acted so quickly in your favour.

The ACCC wont act solely on a phone call, it must be backed up by a written complaint (either via snail mail or via the link on the ACCC website Create New Complaint )

I have never in my life heard of such a ruling going in the favour of either party in such a short period of time (based on the assumption that a complaint was only lodged in the past week).

I think some ip addresses need to be checked as I have a gut feeling some of these new posters might be sheep in wolves clothing.

Yep way too fast for the ACCC to do anything

If this person knows holo then I would back up what they are saying, although it probably hasn't been expressed clearly yet

I've gone back through the posts, and I still have no understanding of how the promotions relate to each other, aside from being run by Amex, or a basis for making a claim. Perhaps our learned newcomer can explain it.

i can't see either.. one is a competition for V Australia, and the others being the three promotions mentioned in this thread. I can't see how they are related. Besides that competition finished at the end of last month, being the 30/09/2008

That is the crux of it. The cardholder was told that points would post from the myrewards promo within 24 hours by a CSR. They then joined the MR program and started spending on the assumption that the points would post in time for multiple entries into the V Australia promo.

The the argument would be that the CSR misrepresented things. But that is still a way off claiming this promotion is bound by a gaming permit.

I wholeheartedly agree - just trying to recap for people who are not as focussed on this as I am and might have missed teh odd post ;)

...and given that that particular competition is closed for entries, it would seem irrelevent at this point in time.

Moderation Notice

We have reason to believe a poster here is using more than one handle.

Some posts have been redacted pending investigation.

I don't now this other person though, it appears they are from the other site we visit. I would like to know more about what they are saying however, for some reason my posts keep disappearing :(

redacted posts eh. and we're still over 2000 mark:!:
:)

I've had all my spends pointed and credited to my MR, no poc'ing or other cough. I have legit spends but average 2-3/day, with weekends up to 5-6. These ppl with suspended MR accounts and poc'ed stuff, rumour is that 5 trans/day under $20 triggers a manual check, which is why you're all delayed. Who knows, business accounts probably have other rules etc.

It would appear I have been POCked ;)

x,xx_ points removed

07/10/2008 Group - POC Low engaged V2

Happened in the past hour or so. Now to decide whether to call...

Is there any reasoning behind the removal of xx_x points?
Was that you points balance?
I'm no mathematician, but it doesn't look to be in 5k/10k multiples...
