10,000 bonus points per 20 transactions

Is this disregarding the fact that AMEX has stated 6-8 weeks, from month end?
I can't recall who said that (or where) but when I look at the FAQ's it clearly states in the section "How long will it take for the bonus points to be credited to my account":

Once Cardmembers have made the required number of eligible transactions they should allow up to 10 weeks for their bonus points to be credited to their account. Points may be credited sooner, however this cannot be guaranteed.

Frankly, I take them at their written word (and will use it against them if they fail to meet their side of the agreement)...not that I am expecting to have to go to those lengths to receive my bonus points.

Which fact?

T&C state..How long will it take for the bonus points to be credited to my account?

If you have a contradicting fact to that can you please post it? Otherwise my expectation is for the T&C to be honoured.

I achieved 5 on Sept 18 and so my 10 weeks starts from Sept 18.

Sounds like it

Isn't this thread just bright and breezy now that Amex have clarified most members' concerns...all the fluff has been blown away. Seems that a lot of posters are either happily waiting for the bonus tranactions to be posted...or ambivalent...or perhaps even transferred out all their MR points and cancelled their Amex cards :o

That alone makes AFF a better place.:D

Missed me?

After seen 12hrs of not posting recently, I decided to take a break myself ;). I thought people were scared to read the truth about their possible outcome . Well, my 10C of advice about the waiting time to get your points.

1) It will not happen before the second week of DEC
2) It may happen the first weeks of January

Why? :confused::confused::confused:

Because this will keep every one wondering which transactions will count and which won’t. In that way every one is capped to their own conscience. No one will go bananas during the Xmas season splitting their gifts purchases.

Nice to see you EJB

Seriously, you come up with these wild ideas with no basis. How about you just not worry about it? Everyone here pretty much agrees based on the T&C we'll see something between the end of November early December.

ejb, I'm disappointed in your post - may I remind you that personal attacks are frowned upon. Discuss the information, but don't personlise and attack the poster. I'd prefer if you self-moderated your post.

I was pleasantly surprised with the restraint that rodgerbranch showed in his response - a level of maturity that is pleasing.

simongr and nlagalle, whilst we might not agree with a persons comments, we have to defend their right to comment. I didn't think you'd rise to it :(

I have two objectives on this forum. First I want to learn as much as I can from people more knowledgeable than me for my own interest.

Secondly I want to share factual information with others.

I have a significant issue with others consistently spreading misinformation and have endeavoured to advocate that people ignore sources of misinformation and then try to make sure that those that have not taken the opportunity to ignore the information have an impartial counter to the rabid misinformation.

I am by nature overly sarcastic - I am English - it is genetic to those of use able to read but it does not make the effort to ensure facts (as they are able) fight through the mucus of misinformation.

Absolutely right simongr, I'd believe that would (or should) be everybody's aim here.

Where it is somebody's opinion, whether factual or not, I see nothing wrong with them having the right to voice that opinion. Perhaps it should be in everybody to ignore (as hard as that is for you, as well as me ) somebody's opinion if you do not agree with it - certainly one does have the right to voice that opposing view, so long as one does not attack the person. Golly, I'd love to be able to use the ignore function, however sadly I can't given my moderatorial requirements of needing to be able to read every post

You and me both - I may be half Irish and Australian, but I enjoy the cut and thrust of sarcastic comments.

Is it abuse to tell someone not to post totally erroneous information - even though you have to use increasingly strong language as the hints get ignored?

That depends on how it is said.

e.g. its quite acceptable to quote a poster and then post something like:

"I disagree with your comments and I can find no factual basis to support them. I believe it to be ..."

or

"In my experience, I have found the situation to be ...."

or

"xyz.com shows the situation to be different to your posted information."

Each of these expresses a view without abusing another forum member.

This thread has brought out the best:D and worst:evil: in some posters
lets just lighten up a bit and enjoy the exchange of information that
this site offers us Boys + Girls:lol:

And on that note, I was wondering if someone could please post an update/summary as to the state of play with Amex and the points, as the basic issues seems to have been lost in all of these posts.

In fact, I'll be a little bit selfish and say that I'm really only interested in how it actually affects me , so here is my situation:

- not sure if I received a card or not
- registered for the promotion online on 18 September
- I was registered for 5,000 points for 10 purchases (mybonus ?)
- I have recieved 1 x instalments of 5,000 points (for Sep, even though I had 30 relevant transactions in Sep)
- I have recieved nothing for october, even though I have had 30 relevant transactions so far in Oct.

What is the current state of play ?

thanks in advance

I have accepted my fate. I will be grateful to Amex for whatever, if any, bonus MR points I receive with this promotion....

Well, DTM1, we're in exactly the same situation. Amex, I'm watching closely. Please note that I have an accrued but uncredited 5K from September and I've just clicked over 30 transactions so far this month, so that's another 15K so far for October you owe me...

I, like many others it seems, have started monitoring my points very closely since this promo started, almost on a daily basis. IMHO their sytems seem to be a little unreliable at best, I've noticed transactions where no standard bonus points are accruing, others where the bonus points are not at the correct rate (I have a Platinum Credit Card) and others where I am getting extra bonus points for no known reason. Little wonder this promo was able to get to the stage it has!

I too was happy to receive whatever bonus points I managed (pre 19/9, 5/5000 no postcard). But I suspect Amex will never again run a promo of this nature do to the shambles that has followed, so if they try to put me on a different rate or limit the points, I may look at the options. By my calculations I'm currently owed about 100k points.
