This is interesting...

So, you wont get your September points until mid December, and your bunus points from December until mid March 2009....

I was hoping to transfer all points to QFF, but I think they are going to stop QFF transfers before March 2009 :(

Not happy

1 April is more than 8-10 weeks after Jan 31. So you can be happy!!!! Perhaps you might read some other threads before posting????? = the rest of us happy!!!

What happens next?

If you wish to transfer your existing Membership Rewards points to Qantas Frequent Flyer you will need to do so before 31 March 2009.
If you wish to continue earning Qantas Frequent Flyer points after 31 March 2009 you will need to opt in to a new program called Qantas Direct. Contact American Express for details.

rodgerbranch,

Like lovetravellingoz, I encourage you to read some of the rest of the forum before you make any more incorrect statements such as above. As people have said to you before this is a Frequent Flyer Forum NOT just an Amex Forum. The Amex info, whilst important is just a minuscule part of what is available here and what this forum is about.

Had you looked elsewhere you would not have had to make another incorrect comment as you have above.

Sadly they cant seem to convince JB HiFi :(

Mind you if buying computer games in [insert name of suburb here] I just go to another store where my bags arent searched and I get decent service, can use Amex and get a price match :D

JB (in Melbourne) do take Amex, however they like to charge their surcharge for the privilege. They also do the same for Diners. There's a little notice stuck to the counters at stores here stating the surcharge, but they do take them.

Depends on the purchase price vs the surcharge I guess as to if its worthwhile.

All moot to me at the moment. Due to an Amex balls up my card is suspended. Lets see how long it takes them to undo what they have done......

Apologies - I think it is the same here. Given the lack of concrete evidence that I am earning a bonus of 500 or 1000 per transaction I am loathe to incur a surcharge and use Amex.

Thankfully getting the price match for the game and using a frequent spender voucher - I ended up only paying $58.

So does the suspension process count as a valid transaction? And another to remove the suspension? So you could be up two transactions for the month .

I finally have time to call American Express for my free Amex Choices card MR program (my wife is under the Ascent program from free professional association Amex). I was being told now I am in mybonus promotion (even though I registered for all 3 ie myreward). But was assured that I have no limits on points earned because I registered on the 17th September. I don't have any bonus points yet because I only used the card sparingly.

Not sure whether to call for my wife's account yet. Last time she registered for myreward on 17th September, she make sure that the operator take the mybonus and earnpoints promotion off the system ...... Hopefully she still gets myreward as I have supplementary card and we try to earn points from her program as much as possible ....... Let's see how we goes .....

In regards to JB Hi-Fi, I frequently buy from 2 of there stores (Sydney CBD and outer suburb) and always use Amex, for purchases ranging from $20 ro several hundred. Never have had a surcharge or an issue.

19/10/2008 JB HI FI STRAND ARCADE SYDNEY NSW $20.36

Had to get my fixin of Two and a Half Men DVD set over the weekend.... ;)

Have you been POC'd ?

No, not POCed at all, since I hardly used the Choices card in September. We always try to use my wife's Amex card program instead. We got quite a number of bonus points which we moved them to Qantas as soon as it hit like 5000 points ....... so not yet POCed. In Summary:

Mr Edison's Amex Choices Program:
- Registered for all 3 by 17th September
- Confirmed today as mybonus program (no capping)
- No POCed.
- No bonus points posted.
- Card hardly used, but just to use enough to get at least 10000 points per month (just in case the make everyone have bonus point limit) .....

Mrs Edison's Amex Ascent Program:
- Registered for all 3 by 17th September
- When registering for myreward on 17/9, told operator to remove mybonus/earnpoints promotion.
- Received xx_,000 bonus points.
- Moved all points off to Qantas.
- No POCed
- Card used as much as possible (Mr Edison is supplementary card holder)
- Not yet confirmed whether still under myrewards no cap promotion, but assume so (no contact yet from Amex of change of conditions).

 xx_,000 Bonus Points

Amex stopped posting Points on the 22nd-23rd , so you made xx_,000 in 12 days or less

Wow you are a champ

Tell me is that a 1XX,000 or 2XX,000 or 9XX,000

Have you slow down since the new T&C were introduced ?

Ditto for me..as I asked to be in my postcarded one..

However despite have requested that points posted for me from all 3 promos..

If you are like me, you actually received points for all 3 promos. You would know whether you did or not by looking at your MR record.....or by simply calculating dividing bonus gained by number of transactions.

As you moved the points to QFF I am guessing that you possibly knew that you had received points from 3 promos..;)

Are you sure??

Surcharge is 1.8% from memory...so if an item was $20.00....then adding the surcharge one would get $20.36

Product price $22.40 less 10% discount = $20.36

Last purchased item was $79.95 and that is what is on the reciept.

I can only be sure at the 2 stores I visit, others may have different procedures (just like one of those 2 stores mentioned has basically no Apple Mac peripherals which is annoying when I feel the urge to spend some money on the weekend, whereas the other has plenty, but is further away.... boys and there toys... lol)

Mmmmm apple mac peripherals technoscrumptious...

now if only the minister of war and finance would stop eyeing off the MacBook Air and be as excited about a MacBook Pro then I would be happy...

(sorry, recent PC convert who has been in IT for over 5 years but has only gone to what was meant to be the dark side... mwhahaha)

ok, back on topic now (sorry).

Still no major update from ABSO however they did call this morning asking for another copy of the promo mailout to be forwarded to them. (they wanted a scan of the front of the mailout (cofee cup image) to ensure there was no additional T&C there)

Well, not saying :p

Slow down? Why? I am just spending what I normally spend, plus trying to use Amex whenever I can, as what the promotion wants me to do.

Well, we need to move the points to Qantas anyway for RTW ticket ...... which costs 142500 for Y ......

Finally Amex have corresponded with me!

A letter came today advising that I had enrolled for multiple promos and I was being put on the program I would have been targeted for (remember that I was the one that posted the screen shot of the splash page showing 5k/5T being open to all).

So far I have on their maths:

43T in Sep - 20K
60T in Oct - 30K

They have "paid" 45K already and deducted x,xx_ points so at the least I am due a x,xx_+5000 points.

However I do not think now that I will let this lie.

As a starting point I want to be on 5K/5T and if they push that then I want to be on all three as Amex registered me for all three (their letter says that I was enrolled in multiple promos not that I was enrolled in three versions of the same promo) and will follow file51's lead in this.

Foolish Amex - in an effort to control costs by putting people on 10T/5K they will cause themselves more harm - AGAIN!
