Great to hear that they have showed their hand, I hope to find something in the post soon as well (though I am yet to even be POCed). I am planning a similar course of action to you, if they put me on the 5/5 I am likely to play nice. However, if they fight the point then I will do what it takes to get paid for all three and am reasonably confident of a good result (eventually of course, but I am willing to wait).

Just to this point if I was on all three I would have:

10K/20T - 50K
5K/10T - 50K
5K/5T - 100K

Total - 200K

And that is just 1 month into the promo.

I would be happy to take 5K/5T. Generally spend is over $40 but I have some things that are cheaper - but I am happy using Amex - shame if I have to cancel it as well...

I have received the letter too and they gave me 5K/10T even though I call up and ask to be put on 5K/5T (and delete the other 2 offers).
The letter does not mention any capping, so I assume it's unlimited?

I have no shame in admitting that my average spend is around $40. I have bought more than 12 flight segments in this period, but as I am self funded they are super-cheap fares, I have eaten at a couple of nice places including dego for 4 at tets, but I have also had about 50 coffees at $4, the occasion sub at $7 and even a few minutes parking here and there.

Not sure what my total is but I would assume it would be approximately equal to yours, maybe a little higher.

Funny that you should mention them losing your business. Mrs NSWhere usually uses her Citi Plat Visa but has been spending on Amex lately. Just last night, after she had tried to pay for our utilities using Amex and couldn't and had earlier tried at her physio and couldn't, she said "you know, this is a pretty silly card"... After having been told earlier in the week by a Boost Juice employee that Amex is the "poor cousin of credit cards" I really couldn't be bothered arguing.

I am sure my attitude would turn rosy again if they honored their word!

Unlimited would be one term that could describe their offer, BS is another.

I also received the letter today. A little bothered by it given that I called them on the 18th of September and was specifically advised by ***** that my enrolment in the other 2 promos had been removed, and I now only had the 5K/5T against my profile....

The saga continues...

Well then guys, if Amex is treating you as though you are still enrolled in three promotions and not paying you for the one you specifically requested - why not join the dark side and argue to be paid for three promotions?

Fun times.

i received my letter knocking me back to the 10 transactions / 5,000 points today. i too am upset as i called twice on september 17 and spoke to two different representatives and confirmed that i was enrolled in the myreward promotion for 5 transactions / 5,000 points. i was credited for points based upon the 5 transactions / 5,000 points until they pulled the plug in late september. it is unclear to me how they can retroactively knock me back to earning 1/2 the reward points for which i enrolled. based on advice from the board, i saved everything from screenshots, times of calls and names of to whom i spoke in case i ever had to prove my case. looks like now they will come in handy.

just some data points (for others to compare):

i did not receive a postcard invite and signed up for the myreward promotion online on september 16.

i have a centurion charge card.

i have not been poc-ed yet but the letter says that they will remove points from my account.

as porky pig said to daffy duck, "i think it's time to speak to the authorities."

answer is , they can't.

One error on my part. The letter actually says:

"registerd for this promo on more than one occasion"

answer is , they can't.

somewhere back in the past thousand or so messages, someone posted a link to download the correct form to file a complaint. i cannot find the message because i don't remember the name of the organisation.
does anyone remember which message it was that had this link?

Hi I am on my mobile sorry so cannot type much.

There is the banking and financial ombudsman (BFO i believe is the term) and also the ACCC that has been mentioned.

There is also the Amex Executive Team with a phone number being posted in this thread. Just do a search for that exact post.

Hope this helps.

thanks those were the terms i was looking for. i found it with a search on the bfo.
for anyone else who wants the contact info it was posted by vet on october 1.

For those who are thinking about contacting Industry Ombudsmen type organisations - I suggest you ensure that you've contacted Amex first with your displeasure and given them the chance to fob you off first (In writing is much more preferable, and especially from "Customer Relations" type teams vs the front line staff).

Also, keep in mind, some Industry Ombudsmen type organisations suggest strongly that you havn't been down legal channels before putting the claim through them.

No, not POCed at all, since I hardly used the Choices card in September. We always try to use my wife's Amex card program instead. We got quite a number of bonus points which we moved them to Qantas as soon as it hit like 5000 points ....... so not yet POCed. In Summary:

Mr Edison's Amex Choices Program:
- Registered for all 3 by 17th September
- Confirmed today as mybonus program (no capping)
- No POCed.
- No bonus points posted.
- Card hardly used, but just to use enough to get at least 10000 points per month (just in case the make everyone have bonus point limit) .....

Mrs Edison's Amex Ascent Program:
- Registered for all 3 by 17th September
- When registering for myreward on 17/9, told operator to remove mybonus/earnpoints promotion.
- Received xx_,000 bonus points.
- Moved all points off to Qantas.
- No POCed
- Card used as much as possible (Mr Edison is supplementary card holder)
- Not yet confirmed whether still under myrewards no cap promotion, but assume so (no contact yet from Amex of change of conditions).

Both Mr and Mrs Edison got the Amex letter today. Both were put into 5000 point /10 Transaction deal. However there is a subtle differences between the two letters:

"Any bonus points accrued outside this offer will be removed from your account" (on Mr Edison's letter)

Mrs Edison's letter does not have that clause ......... ;)

So I am still not sure whether I should ask Amex to reinstate the 5K/5T offer instead. Or just ask for all 3 offers ;)

But that also means the Edison's will continue to spend on Amex with some certainty
