Nah, the same one I assume you have. It does also place me on the 10T / 5K promo. Actually, you should be due to receive some points by now - yes?

Different letter.

I had a letter in October confirming that I was in the 5k/5. Which was what I was postcarded for (though amexin the October letter was not aware of it).

Then a letter in Dec suspending me.
Them my latest Jan letter unsuspending me and stating I would have all points earnt pad with 2-3 weeks....with the 3 weeks almost up.

The page doesnt exist?

Exactly.

Future promos like this will not either. ;)

1/ Because it was way WAY too generous. It was a mistake.
2/ Because it was meant to only be a private targetted offer to those mailed postcards (but amex through ineptitude made ita public offer)

Hence

oops !!!! ;)

Ona more serious note, many of Amexes offers are targetted and do not directly appear on public Amex pages. Forums like this can turn them up as long as T&C does not stop outsiders from making use of them.

oh oh oh (sorry, cant help myself when I am having so much fun.)

Rodger, The frequent flyer store has not sold Sony Plasmas in months... Maybe an LCD panel??? small 20" pink set maybe???
Umm, the FF store would have never sold a Sony Plasma.
Sony only has LCD TVs.

At least 1-2 years ago, but they definitely did exist.

They indeed did, but production stopped and went solely to LCD's in November 2005 (around then IRC) which means the last product range was early 2006.... a loooooooong time ago

Hence the "at least" :D and yep, I remember reading the news article! There was another company that did it at the same time, Sharp maybe? But I digress......

I wasnt meaning to come across as if I was correcting you, if so, sorry.

Main purpose was to emphasise that "Wodger" (lol) must be a time traveller as well...
with all those points I guess they could get you anywhere.... anytime

:lol::lol::lol:

Some good news ....

I earned 5 million points .... easily crushing rogerbranch's "achievement" ...

Actually no ..... That was a joke ....

Anyway, some really good news. I was enrolled in MyReward program with a letter from Amex confirming that we are enrolled in MyReward program (to correct administrative error from Amex putting us in MyBonus program). However they only provided us with half the points we are entitled. After lodging a complaint to Amex (and then BFSO), Amex wrote a letter to us today stating that we are in MyBonus promotion.

Naturally we called Amex and complained. At the same time our mobile phone rang and an Amex CSR called us to clarify that it was an error, as well as apologising for the mistake, and we will receive our other half of all the points we entitled by Tuesday (subject to business approval).

So to their credit they are going to award us the points, even though it did take a complaint from us at the first place to get it. So for everyone else, please do not give up chasing the points that you are entitled to.

Also now that Amex are finally honouring our points, we will continue to use them for a long time (well at least need to keep the MR account open!) .....

I want to thank Amex for providing such generous promotion (and I know it "should" never happen again).

Also I want to thank www.frequentflyer.com.au for providing such forum so that a lot of people benefit from this info. For all contributers and administrators, please give yourself a clap :)

I'll be back on the phone to Amex this week now that i am back as they still haven't responded to my letter from December. However my points posting do not add to up any of the 3 promos.. Didn't get time while i was away to get on the blower to them..

Good news all, the wheels are moving slowly but they are moving. I finally received notification from the FOS that they have given AMEX a month to respond formally to my dispute (not invited/enrolled in all three as better deals came to light/moved to 10/5/ argued for 5/5 but they stuck to their guns).

As usual, I'll keep you posted.

Well today is Feb 22. So the 3 weeks specified in my letter from Amex, by them, for points to be awarded to me is now up.

I will give Amex a few days grace....and then ring/fax them to see why no points if they have not posted.

Hopefully Monday will see them arrive......

Well, got the formal suspension letter in mid-February, and it's the final day for me to resolve it with American Express before I have to respond back to the FOS

Given:

  • American Express Executive Services have said that they can do no more to resolve it as it's another department that's responsible for the decision
  • I cannot talk to those people that made the decision at all
I cannot resolve the matter, and have just sent off a fax to the FOS explaining all the recent dealings and asking them to investigate, given failures to resolve the matter have occurred at both the customer service level and Executive Customer Services.

I have to commend Executive Customer Services - they are pleasant, and they seem like they do want to help, but it seems that American Express are trying to play hardball on this one and trying to make it difficult for people to resolve.

Thankfully there is the FOS. I'll be relying on them to essentially get me the points that I am entitled to under Amex's own promotion where they set the rules and they confirmed my registration on multiple occasions (even sending me postcards in December encouraging me to spend more often on my Amex card!).

I'll report back if I hear anything more.

Update.

My last communication from Amex was that I recieved a letter to say that all points would be paid within 2-3 weeks.

Over three weeks have passed, but no points awarded.

So I allowed several more days grace and then rang Amex.

Initial response was that I would have to wait 30 days for Amex to respond

Err no I suggested, and pointed out that my letter from Amex was acknowledging that the matter had been resolved by them that all points would be posted within 2-3weeks....which had now passed.

Therefore I asked when will this occur as they had already made their decision?

Amex said they would investigate. I asked why when they had already informed me of their decision and that I was 100% accepting of their decision.

All I gained was that they would investiagte the letter (which they could not see) and get back to me within 5 days. Well at least that was an improvement on the 30 days orginally outlined!!

I reiterated that their last letter was satisfactory to me and looked forward to them taking the action stated in it.

Keep pushing them mate - Seems like you are almost there! Its frustrating how you have to do the following up rather then the other way

Just to add I am still in the same boat as lovetravellingoz.

Full payout promised, expected payout time has passed with no response and only about 10% of expected points paid so far.

I'm now waiting on a "reconciliation" to be prepared as AMEX seemed unsure whether or not all points had been paid out or not (!!). Not happy to have to wait yet more time (10 business days this time) and unless points are forthcoming soon I will be reluctantly joining the herds heading to the FOS.

It seems kind of amazing - they send you a letter, you agree, and then Amex AGAIN decide to delay, claiming they need to investigate the letter and need 30 more days!

This is bordering on the ridiculous. Right hand at Amex doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

Which has been the case throughout the promo.

I my case I presume my letter (action) is waiting in someone's in/out basket to be actioned...eventually.

Be nice if we could pay bills the same way....."the cheque is in the mail" !!!
