10,000 bonus points per 20 transactions

If my assumption is correct that would make 380 transactions from Sep 17-24, as you mention the day points stopped posting, which is 8 days at ~47 transactions per day. On the assumption of 5-10 minutes per transaction that is ~4-8 hours spent shopping.....

No..your assumption is incorrect.

I was enrolled in all 3 promo rates..despite ringing and clarifying with amex that I just wanted my postacred one...5k for 5k.

So as mention many many MANY pages back Amex overpaid points to me early on as they gave me points for all three bonus rates. This doybled my true earn.
The final points awarded are now about right and so Amex obviously adjusted for this.

The Amex promotion ran for 106 days and ~2825 transactions in that time is ~26.5 transactions per day. Achievable but requires a lot of hard work. ....

Yes it did.
On the assumption of 5-10 minutes per transaction this would equate to at least 2-4 hours spent shopping everyday sometimes more if you are going from aisle to aisle in a supermarket or from shop to shop in a shopping centre and no waiting time in queues. ....

As per my Points Run Report I optimised things as I went along.

I would in many cases know exactly what I would buy and where it was before I entered a store. While there I would menatally take note for may return visit.

I certainly did not average 4 hours per day. Well less.

Many days would be an hour or so.

Days with late night shopping...or a weekend did have some days of 4 hours..but mainly not.

The key was to be organised and systematic and to shop when there were no queues...or at least very light traffic.

Say 200/250 hours for 20-ish Business Class return tickets to Europe Tax free equals to me a very attractive work rate. However the 200/250 really should be discounted somewhat as I would normally have to shop somehwhat anyway just for normal needs and Xmas shopping anyway. Plus I took over the total family shop and so household duties that I might normally do such as cooking were taken over by my wife (as I did all her shopping in the main).

All very interesting and I am sure you are sick of shopping by now....

Yes I am...and yes I was even before I started. I hate shopping.

That means he's netted up to $140,000 worth of airfares for his time (not instubstantial) and about $28,000 (by his reference of about $10 per transaction).

Not a bad effort, I'd say!

Not to mention that as I already work to gain extra income to buy that given taxes I would have actually to earn an extra $250,000 -ish.

So if it cost me at most 250 hours (and i think it would have been less)that is about $1000 per hour.

As I would normally have to do some shopping anyway...the "effective" hours would be less.

And at least I could choose when I "worked". ;)

And as much as I hate shopping..I would be willing at that hourly "rate" to hire on again;)

Add to that the 456 posts (to date) in this thread and I am sure he is ready to get his life back .

How do you find out how many posts a person has made in a thread?

When viewing the list of threads in a forum or from a search (such as New posts), click on the post count number in the Replies column. That will open a pop-up window with a list of the posters and the number of posts in the thread.

Wow! You learn something new every day.

After the supposed reconciliation by the back office, I'm happy to report that I got a call from Amex 30 mins ago telling me that I've been credited with an extra 130K points.

So now, all points have been paid out on 5T/5K all without writing complaint letters or going to FOS.

Case closed.

Thanks Amex!

I knew that if I waited around this thread long enough I would get some benefit from it :!:

If that were true, then since I earned 540k points and our post ratio is about 9:1, you should have earned about 4.8 million bonii :shock:

Not all equations are linear though.... ;)

Glad you gained the 540K though....this must be about the richest promo ever!!!!

well a week has passed since I lodged yet another call with Amex. Will call them on Monday morning and if no luck I'll be straight on the phone to the BFSO. I would have done it sooner, but I have been away and it's hard to do that during the work day.

Some of us will possibly be given the opportunity for much better promotions. :-|

Well one can hope so...However promos with flaws this big in them do not come about too often. So for much better you might be will be waiting awhile...

But somewhere, sometime, something valuable will pop up...so keep reading AFF!!!!!

I remember that Latin Pass created quite a few points millionarres, though I do not know the number. The Pudding Guy ( http://www.johnnyjet.com/folder/reporters/puddingguyqa.html ) gained his second million point haul in it.

From reading various forums this Everyday Promo has had at least several claiming a million points so far, with quite a number indicating 500K plus...and we know that Amex is yet to award all owed bonii to many.

Once Amex posts all the bonii I am fully expecting at least several other AFF point millionarres.

So from the number of people with large bonii this promo would have few competitors. It's like from that perspective may not be seen again.

Is there somewhere where this sort of information, a kind of general "How to" is available?

So AMEX are playing nasty. I rang up and basically was told they have to lodge another case with the back office. Spoke to a supervisor, who denied I was enrolled ever, there was no case notes and no back office cases from earlier in the year. What utter rubbish, if that was the case, why was I getting automatic bonus points mid Sept, and then POC'd, and then points returned? Other reps verbally confirmed this several times throughout the last few months over the phone.

As far as they are concerned, all people enrolled have been paid out. I've escalated to FOS again, and will be following this up with great urgency.

Sorry to hear some people are still waiting for points. I've read every post in this thread over the past few months and will continue to do so, it has become part of my daily routine, so please keep us up to date with your progress.

Did you have a case number in earlier conversation from Amex? I always insisted one from them.

Also did you received any letter from Amex confirming that you are enrolled in the reward?

For anyone else who hasn't received their points yet, you should now escalate to FOS regardless of current dispute status with Amex.

I do wish you will get all your points. Good luck.
