. What utter rubbish, if that was the case, why was I getting automatic bonus points mid Sept, and then POC'd, and then points returned? .

With points awarded it should show on your paper statement. Make sure you keep this safe as with it sooner or later Amex will have to acknowledge that you were registered.

There would also be electronic copies on line as well, but it may be prudent to make sure you have hard-copies now if you do not already.

So AMEX are playing nasty. I rang up and basically was told they have to lodge another case with the back office. Spoke to a supervisor, who denied I was enrolled ever, there was no case notes and no back office cases from earlier in the year. What utter rubbish, if that was the case, why was I getting automatic bonus points mid Sept, and then POC'd, and then points returned? Other reps verbally confirmed this several times throughout the last few months over the phone.

As far as they are concerned, all people enrolled have been paid out. I've escalated to FOS again, and will be following this up with great urgency.

Multiple cases of people lodging things with the FOS would suggest otherwise. I think they're trying to put their head in the sand and run away from things now.

Did you have a case number in earlier conversation from Amex? I always insisted one from them.

.
This is good advice.

I have recovered bonus points not awarded in about 4 promotions.

With most of these no action was forthcoming until it was escalated internally by Amex , normally to their complaints department.

Getting a case number will normally iniiate this.

No case number would based on my past experience often result in just being in limbo with nothing hapening.

Also when speaing witha CSR always be polite but firm and do not accept a no. The CSR will normally have very little freedom to act and so you will need to be persitant till they call in a supervisor or agree to escalate to the complaints department.

Speaking about Paper / PDF Statements, did anyone have any ridiculously large statements? Anyone with a 100+ page PDF?

At 36 transactions/page, that would mean 3600 transactions in a month, or roughly 120-130/day?

Well mine were large and came in an A4 envelope, rather than the normal letter size,....but not that large. ;)

Do you have ten million points coming ???

Mind you way way back at the start of this thread there was someone from memory that had about 8 cards as suplementary cards and so I wonder how he got on?????

No. Just speculating, on some numbers. 100+ pages is a milestone number, and I guess would give someone 10 million points (another milestone - 7 digits), over roughly 10,000 transactions.

I haven't received all my points, although I've saved all my transaction lists from September last year (I did this by using the transaction list report from Membership Rewards online, which shows transaction, date, purchase amount and all points awarded in detail).

I have to audit the printouts and how many points I was awarded in order to work out the balance I'm owed. After that, it will be a case of going to Amex to find my missing points.

Looks like time is not on my side either....

SnowYeti, I too was given that trash by a MR rep. So I told her I'd sue and faxed lawyer letters to Luisa and Corinna - Amex could chose where they'd like to be sued - here, Delaware or California. Then they rang 3 or 4 times to apologise, pleaded not to do something commercial to them, and even found 110,000 mystery phone pays/lottery tickets in the backroom and added them to the pot as myrewards. So go hard. I think they pick their targets.

I took a slightly different approach, because I didn't want to spend the time sorting through which tx were international (and hence not valid for the promo) and which were Australian.

I just rang AMEX, told them I'd signed up but didn't seem to have as many bonus points as expected. They said they'd do a points reconciliation and get back to me within a week. If that results in giving me the amount of points I think I deserve (give or take), I'll be happy. If not, I'll investigate further (still have all my statements).

Fingers crossed. :)

Cheers,
- Febs.

My suggestion is to make it easy for them (the Amex person investigating your claim) so that they can give you what you want.

For example if you just ring up the Amex staffer has to try and find all your details...and given the slipshod way that Amex has run this then there may well be missing records etc. In addition some CSR's will just be lazy and will not want to actually do any extra work!!!!

Also be friendly!!!! You have probably had situations yourself where you have dealt with someone where they were over the top, nasty, loud etc...Such a response probably had you wanting to give them nothing...or less???

Any my suggestion is be polite and make it easy For them..but highlight why and how they can say yes..

ie..
Dear Amex that you for listening to my claim of DATEXX.

At that time you indicated that you had no record of my having registered on the Everday Promotion.

To assist you in this I have attached a photocopy of my statement. As you can see you awarded me points in the Everday Promtion on DATE, DATE, DATE..
this was at the rate of 5000/ 5 (or whatever it was).

This is obviously confirmation for you that I was validly regsitered.
As I have now provided proof to you that I was in fact regsitered I look forward to you now awarding me the remainder of my bonus points.

If you have any other questions for me please conact me on X999 888X.

Thank you for your time.

Regards Snow Yeti..

If that does not work then at least you will have ammunition for the FOS.

No need to call Amex - just did a detailed audit just then and it seems I'm actually all paid out, save for a minute shortfall.

My slice of the bonus booty was to the tune of just over 380k points.

Regarding those Amex bonuses that were due if you pay Teltra on amex.

I faxed my acceptance to Amex on 8th December and the fine print says 6-8 weeks 'from the date of enrolment.' Does Amex think we're on metric weeks or something:?:

I received mine 2 weeks ago. 2K pts

the csr couldn't find them on her puter but someone in MR told her I received them on 18th Feb. Where does one check - ie if the csr can't find them, where do I look? Its not that I distrust MR but uuuum ...

There are 3 systems I believe
1. MR
2. Executive Office
3. General (when you call up for everyday things)

Well the rest of my outstanding points finally appeared to come through today. While I didn't reach the lofty heights of some here, I'm still happy with my haul of well over 400,000 points (and that was definitely shopping enough for me, can't imagine five times the transaction fun! ).

I found the Telstra bonuses. Boy there's been tons of redemptions and txs - just put a car on the card too instead of paying the dealer by cheque, and get a free o/s trip as part of the deal.

Nice one, gibsmpuh!

400,000 is a nice round number when the 25% Velocity bonus = 100k:- enough for a return economy trip to the usa. ;)

Already tried this, if you can find a dealer who will let you pay more than about $5000 to $10000 on card, let me know.
