Hi, ALL

Has anyone got any points after 30th of Sept? I mean normal points 1/$1 or 1.5/$1.

I haven't got any points after 30th of Sept, although the transactions already appreared on my online statements.

AMEX is reviewing all points transactions now ???

Yes my points keep coming at 1to1 but not bonus points for a week already.

It will be very nice if the 1st person who start getting Myreward points again puts a BIG post here to alert everyone else

I find it highly unlikely but maybe they don't even know who they sent the flyers out to. Maybe its a random thing the computer grabs a bunch of random names from parameters they have chosen, the names and addresses are printed on the flyers and sent out and their accounts aren't flagged that they have been chosen for a special promotion.

I mean why would Luisa say that they'll honour it even if you didn't receive the card. Would they have had to state that in the T & C's? Surely their best defence against this would have been to say anyone who didn't receive the card will be de-enrolled. I for one wouldn't have argued but that's just me!

All I know is that their is probably a project now for their IT department to write a program that only allows flagged customers to enter promotions.

Just had a look at the original t&cs from the postcard and the original offer was "subject to the terms and conditions of the membership rewards program".

So basically Amex can change this current program as they see fit with or without notice. I think we just have to accept that as this was clearly stated in the initial t&cs.

bazzam, I would suggest reading many of the previous pages.

It is not so much the issue of changing the T&C's, it is them being done retrospectively, which fortunately for us in Australia is not allowed. There are various laws and legislations that forbid such an act.

Amex are within there right to change things, but it must be a change made at a specific time, or in the future, not a change on the 20th which was only made and announced on the 27th, at best they could claim significant circumstances and maybe have the effective date changed to the 25th, but that is it, and would still cause a log of legal anguish.

In simple terms, you can't change something in the past, PLUS, no notification was given in an official manner regarding these changes.

I dare say it would be almost impossible to define. One can look at one set of figures (e.g. 5 transactions at DJ's in one day) versus another ($1200 phone bill paid in $1 transactions) and know that one is ok, and one is not. Problem is defining where it stops being ok and becomes abuse. I don't think there is a simple answer to that, and perhaps they will err on the side of caution.

I agree with what you posted. It is impossible to define, and in Amex's case to prove in all situations...and so it is also why the revised T&C do not completely ban bill splitting.

But the point of my original post on this was that the possible points to be gained are so generous....that I do not want to risk relying on them erring on the side of caution...and instead I will err of the side of caution.

I fully intend that any multi-transaction that I have done will have a reasonable answer, rather than just well yes I just wanted more transaction points.

Others may decide to try and boost their earn by doing lots of multiple transactions. That is their call and good luck to them.

I noted this in one of my posts above that I have not received any MR points for transactions in October, although the transactions themselves are there. This could be a review, but it could also be a hiccup in the system. While I never paid so much attention to my points before as now, others have notcied that the two don't always go together.

All cards were barcoded and had a batch id number on them.

Amex know exactly who were sent a card, and what the offer was.

They will know exactly to whom they were sent.

If not themselves then their mail house will.

It might take them a bit to data-match if they have not already (but they have 8 weeks to do it)....and so a CSR that you ring may not know.

But their mail house will have a list. ie they would have needed it to print the address. No list = no mailing in the first place.

Amex would also have retained it for in Marketing you always analyse the success or not of your program afterwards.

In this case they would have been wanting to see numbers of stores visted as that was clearly the intent of their promotion.

But other things such as the total costs would also have to have been looked at. In this case though they blundered and their cost will be very large.

Hi, Mark, same same, i started to pay more attentions to my points as well.

However, i noticed that transactions always apprear around 6 hours to 12 hours earlier in CASH statement than MR statment.

For Example, 1st Oct night , 10PM, some transactions such as Coles, Foodland appeared in my Cash statment, next morning 10 am, points SHOULD appear on the MR statment.

However, it's 3rd of Oct now, my CASH statment already have transactions on 1st and 2nd of OCT, MR history only have up to 30th of Sept.

Sth is happening .....errrrr

Something indeed

Yes Amex are now playing funny buggers....

My points went in each day to MR just after 9am..

Today they did not (and still nothing shows for Oct 2)...and now they have reversed some points (the reversal was not there at say 10am) bit is there late this afternoon.

As mentioned earlier I have been careful not bill split more than a few mutliple purchases at Myers where one normally would have multiple tx anyway etc.

Most business have been single tx.

However like many I have ramped up my spending as their promotion was an invitation to shop. I have done this in the main by visiting seperate shops.

So they now have taken some points back (ie deducted them).

As to why? Who knows? Maybe it is a glitch...maybe it is something else.

I suspect it is because I am using the program....and perhaps they are "freezing" things for anyone that is busy out there doing lots of shopping.

I have also had points zero'ed this afternoon. I transferred them all out a week or so ago, and the 3000 or so that I've accumulated since have been taken. Interesting.

Just checked my account now, some points dropped out and there's a new line there:

Group - POC Medium engaged

So I guess we'll see soon enough what that means (though I guess it probably means I'll be in the 10T/5K group)!

I've got a few transactions showing up from 1 October, I've got the Platinum credit card, but am actually getting 2 points per $ since 27th Sept. Not sure why, but not going to ask!

Maybe.

They have not reversed anything in my account, but then they have not creditted anything for October either!

err, no. That would be illegal.

Just because something is written doesn't make it so. Read last load of pages.
